Hello all

I have been posting here a while now but my wife bought an 06 KJ last month and I figured I would check in with ya all and ask if there is any thing I need to know about these things.

I dont know anything about it, she wont even let me drive it, but since I will be doing the maintanence on it I figured anything anyone could tell me about them would be helpfull. I was reading about the ball joint failures and found that to be good info, was wondering if anyone had any other pearls of wisdom like that for me.

Thanks all.

I'm pretty sure the ball joint failure thing was on the earlier models (like mine). I've had no problems out of the libby. The ball joint was a recall and I was contacted by the dealer to have them replaced. Other than oil changes and one set of front brakes, she's given us 85K miles of trouble-free driving. Oh, just thought of one thing. The seats are not comfortable. No lateral or lumbar support. Mine has the heated leather seats. Maybe the others are more forgiving on longer trips. Congrats on the purchase and don't let anyone bother you with the libby bashing. It should serve you well.

Ball Joints are an issue since 02, and have not been fixed they just warrenty them each time they go out of spec. Stop over at http://www.lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/ and you will find anything you need to know about the liberty there.

You need to waken up your mpg with new low end power. most liberty owners i know compliained like my wife that they only got 15-16.5 on their 3.7 litre v6's but and underdrive crank pulley from asp racing and an airiad throttle bodt spacer and a matrix intake found on ebay made us 19.1 in town 23.2 on the highway with 93 octane and it gives us tons of low end in our automatic. definitely get tranny inserts and or motor mount inserts and an addco rear sway bar . if you lift it poly spacers do great and can be found at desert rat and 31x10.50's fit well. just get jks quick disconnects for your swaybars if your gonna go off road it makes for good articulation. and the rb4 gps bolts right in if your looking for the best radio/sound system for your kj forget after market mine even plays dvd's with the mod chip[.mobilevideo4less.com ] hope this answers your questions and gives you some input on the liberty v6's oh yes definitely invest in powerstop cross drilled rotors from summit or elsewhere they stop 42 feet shorter dont warp and are about 21 dollars cheaper at least around here than your oem ones. Its my wifes anniversary present and she loves it. Just a note i was informed that crossdrilled rotors are bad if you mud or trail in water alot so keep that in mind.

I was going to jump all over you about the drilled rotors, then I read the rest of your post. Yes, cross drilled rotors are HORRIBLE if you drive in the mud!! By the way, lets see, my wife had this thing for a bit over a month and then last week she...

Enterprise gave me a Cherokee to drive while her Jeep is in the shop. What a POS!!!!!!!!
Are these things like the liberty, are they designed around women, cause holly sh!t, it is small, it is under powered and it is focken ugly as sin, and what the hell is up with the IFS. What is Jeep doing, that makes 3 IFS trucks they have now (Cherokee, Liberty, Comander, did I miss something?), look out TJ!!

*edit*
by the way, that is not trail damage, that would make it cool, she got rear ended.

You making your wife run those Wrangler ST's?

We couldn't even get our Liberty across a wet road in a hurry with those things on. I replaced all 4 tires already with some Revos.

Oh wait, I see you just bought it. I;ll give you 6000 miles before you replace them also.

well i love that search button and i know she doesnt go in any mud but still its hers to do with. my wife is a great driver but that doesnt mean we can control the people on the other side of the line right? sorry about your wifes liberty. as for the new cherokees enterprise gets the smallest amount they can for their rentals i have a good buddy that runs the one near the airport. if you get a hemi you would change your frown to a stuck on grin trust me and for a fact the new hemi cherokees can go alot farther and deeper than my old overland could. wj are nice but damn are the wk's much better. oh and the 3.7 v6 is a 4.7 just missing two cylinders to save on fuel and machining costs. everythin from the front of a 3.7 fits the 4.7 i know

You must be talking about the new GRAND Cherokee. Because the XJ's are solid axle.

yea it is the Grand and it is not the one with the Hemi, it has the 4.7.

Lets see to all you who live in the Akron, Canton, Massillon, etc, area. Stay away from Custom Auto Body in N. Canton, Beldon Village area. I gave them my wifes Jeep on Tuesday March 7th, today is Tuesday March 28th and they STILL have the damn thing!!!
I am going to pick it up tomorrow, lol, I have to bring it back to them when they get the rest of the parts for it. You would think that this Liberty is the only one on earth and the parts have to be special made for it, wait......the parts could have been hand fabed from scratch and been done already.
However it was use them or use Progressive Chevrolet in Massillon, and I would have rather burnt the Jeep to the ground than use Progressive.
