Hey all, introduced myself out in the new users arena and got re-directed this direction, which is where I figured I'd ultimatley end up. Just bought my first real project willy's, it's a '58 wagon that is pretty much all original. It needs a little mechanical help and a lot of cosmetic help. I have big plans for it. The first thing I really need is to know what is compatible, there are no parts listed anywhere for a '58 Willy's wagon and since it runs and drives my first order of business is a 2.5" lift, but I don't know what is compatible, maybe one of the kits out there... Any and all advice would be most helpful and very appreciated. I will post pics as soon as I can.

I kinda feel your pain. Most of the after market parts are made for 76' and up it seems. If you cant find a lift kit, you could always find a leaf spring shop around and have them make you 2.5 lift spring. It's not that hard for them at all. Did you check out the vintage section of the 4WD catalog. Maybe there is something in there. Good luck and welcome to the board.

Finally got it home, here's the first pics.
Tom, Thanks, I was hoping that among the lifts I have found for vintage something would fit. I just didn't know if parts for a '58 CJ would be compatible or not.

That's a nice Wagon, looks like it needs some work but after that it will be a wonderful rig.
Are you going to change the body or just making it technically better (lift, tires, ratios) and keep the metal look stock?

You might want to check out www.g503.com (http://www.g503.com). Click on message boards then scroll down to the CJ section.
While they are mostly for MIL restos, you should be able to get some places for parts and ideas.
Good luck.
Cool!!
My first Jeep was a '59 Wagon!
There isn't much common to a CJ. Even the springs are different lengths. I think it's likely you'll need to get custom springs from Alcan or someplace similar. I have heard of some guys taking a wagon body and installing it on an early Blazer rolling chassis/drivetrain...
Here's a link to Willys Tech. Join and check with them, most of your wagon questions can be answered there.

Thanks all, I will check those links.
Yes, we are going to keep the body as is with perks, lift, tires etc. And of course a little paint. Thinking about putting tube bumpers on it as the originals are in really rough shape, the front one is creased bad and I fear is unsalvagable. Gotta chew on it a bit longer before I decide though. First thing on my shopping list is a welder which I am picking up later this week. New Toys.... the joy.
