I have a '70 CJ5 that I bought in California and drove to Utah. It ran great when I made that drive. I then spent about 8 months rebuilding the transmission, transfer case, and fixing the body up. I had a mechanic adjust the carburetor and timing, and towed it to my new home in Durango, CO. I test drove it and it runs okay until I get on the highway. At high speeds the engine hesitates and dies. It seems starved for gas. I changed the fuel filter, filled the tank with good gas, and put additive in the gas to clean out any water condensation.
Any ideas on what the issue is? I want to have it fixed by a professional but want to know what may be the problem before taking it to a mechanic I do not know.
