Has anyone ever put a chevy 305 in there jeep wrangler? I'm putting a 305 in and was wondering how is the 305's power in the wrangler. And if you have a 305 in your wrangler what all did you put on your motor? Thanks.

i think i'm going to go for a 4.3 vortech and 700r4 for my 92 yj. motors and trannys are plentiful, kids wrap em 'rond poles and trees every weekend, and advance adapters has most of the hardware. another friend suggested a LT1 and tranny from a roadmaster or expired cop car, sounded viable, but i couldn't find as much support from gear vendors or advance adapters. if i'm blessed in the next few months, i will have a 60 rear and 44 front locked and joined with an atlasII and some serious articulation. i'm not too concerned with appearance, i want a purpose built off roader that ain't afrain of a little desert pinstriping. besides my posers are bmw's. :P

i like the 4.3 bc of its relative power to weight. i didnt go fuel injection tho, if you really want some power, there is a kit that was designed for the s-10 ss, and xtreme that is supercharged(i think), i dont think it is a turbo, anywho, they also sell the engine, that has other goodies on it and the wiring u need, check into it, its supposed to make a lot of ponies.....

I put a 305 from an 87 Camaro in my 73 Malibu to drive it to Arkansas from Kansas. I've thought about this swap a few times, but decided against it. If I can find the link, I think there is a page that tells you how to get 325 horses out of that 305... not sure I'll check.

Try this. NOt sure if it's what you are looking for.

I had a pal who put a 350 in a lifted S-10 and took a serious downhill route, threw his nice new engine almost out of his engine compartment, seems that the front engine mounts that he fabbed weren't so fabulous after all. He got some serious radiator rub and had to replace the radiator, hoses, mounts and fan. he is the proud owner of a set of poly-bushed mounts put together by a local 4x4 shop now.

Moral: make sure your rig can take the weight shifting.
