Used but not abused.......... I noticed two things.........
1) Engine running Hot after ideling for a very short time with the AC on. Fluids are good! Any ideas?
Found out the Fan Clutch was going out! Dealer is replacing it as we speak! 2) Oil gage is always pegged out. Oil levels are good? Any ideas/........ Oil pressure sending unit bad and again the dealer is replacing it.

You will find with an older Jeep you will have things to fix. When I first bought my 93 almost 2 years ago I had the engine rebuilt a month after I parches it. I also had the water pump replaced and lots of other goodies. Luckily the Dealer was very nice and fixed all the problems. My oil gage was off and did replace the sending unit and it worked good. GOOD LUCK!!! Best advice Is get one of those books that tells you how to take it apart and put it back together. They sell them at most auto parts stores.

Haynes or Chilton manuals, I keep 'em handy and use it often.

If you are serious about your ride you can always go the route of getting a Jeep shop manual on your vehicle model and year. They can be bought from a cooperative Chrysler/ Jeep/ Plymouth/ Dodge/ Eagle dealership.
If all else fails, go to an internet search engine. If you look hard enough, you can find one.

Haynes are the worst thing since a empty roll of toilet paper when your doing the business. It tells you the "special ed" things like how to remove your doors, but doesn't tell you what bolt is the fill plug, where it is, and how much the tranny holds. Pathetic! :x

LeadFoot, Good point. The Haynes is good for the beginner, lets you know where to find stuff, basic things & basic fixes. If you're planning to do all your own work, get a FSM (Factory Service Manual), it'll run you about $60. Look around for a used one, picked mine up on e-Bay for $30. This thing is about 3" thick. There's another manual that covers emissions and electrical, it's about 1˝" thick. If you're gunna go all out and never take your baby to the shop, you'll need the Powertrain Diagnostics Manual, Body Manual and Chassis Manual. I've resently seen an ABS systems and a Transmission manual.
I guess it all depends on how much money you want to save, how dirty you want your hands to get and how much time you have to do the job.

You can pick up and Service or Owners manual @ 800.890.4038 or fax@ 440.572.0815. This is off of the inside cover of a Service manual for a '01 TJ.

ollllllo, I was only speaking from a YJ point of view. I'm not sure what is avalible for other models. As they keep adding years, the manuals keep getting thicker and more expensive. Many of the manuals cover many models, not just Wranglers. The manual (FSM) I have covers the years of '87 - '99. I'm sure that number will get you any manual the company publishes, also, most stealerships will order them for you.
