People over reacting?

I was at work the other day and my jeeps water pump started leaking... some one reported it to security then security call the hazards material cleanup team, that we have on site here where I work, and then they called me. When I walked out to the jeep I see the guys in suits and respirators with all the drains in the parking lot plugged with these big sponges and caution tape around my jeep. I go out to see how much coolant had leaked out and there was like 1/2 cup of coolant on the ground. One of the guys on the suit starts talking to me like I just kill all the salmon for the next 20 years in the local stream, so I hop in the jeep and drive off through the caution tape and go home trying to not think about how funny it was? but today I get an interoffice letter with a bill for cleaning up the Hazards spill, so I take the bill back to the person that sent it and told them that there is no way I was going to pay for it. They started in on how I was negligent in letting my jeep leak coolant and I should have known that I was going to leak coolant, so I told them that I only use Sierra brand coolant and that Sierra brand is save for pets, people, and salmon and if they wanted the bill paid that they could go talk to Sierra who told me that it was safe to leak coolant then I walked off with out the bill... we will see what happens...

I'm a vollie fireman in NJ. been one for 15 years. In the past, if we got called to a "spill" we hosed it down and that was that... Now....NJEPA...NJDEP...county haz-mat....ARRRRGGGGHHHHH :x for a half a friggin' gallon of anti freeze....Things are definitely out of control!

Well I talked with HR and Management and it sounds like someone is trying to justify their job and make a personal mission out of this issue... I will not be paying the bill and there will be no more discussions on this issue.

What makes this very funny is that we have a once a week oil changing services that comes on site that leaks more oil on to the ground then all the cars on the lot.

Sounds like you live by too many tree huggers. They saw the jeep and thought they could stop you from wheelin anymore.
