I am debating on getting a header or safari bikini for my TJ. The debate is I don't think I would use it that much. In the nice weather, I would rather have no top, no doors, take the back seat out and put the duster on.

Anyone have a bikini and run it all of the time? Do you like it??

I have a strapless bikini for my YJ and I run it once and a while. I like it on really hot, clear, sunny days just to keep some of the sun off of my face. It was given to me and I use it. But TJ as I'm sure you know, Erie summers aren't usualy sunny, hot, or clear. So I don't use it as much as I could. So you run around topless in the summer :g ? Just kidding. I got foot in mouth disease over that a few years ago, funny story for OT.

It is so nice to see that people here have a sense of humor. I wasn't sure what I could get away with, without crossing the line that is. Thank God you guys and gals aren't stuck up, sticks in the mud. :D This forum rules! It is just like we are all friends here. Sometimes that Jeep thing just reaches right up and slaps you in the face!

I used to run a meyer's hard top on my 66' but the damn thing is so heavy that it fealt like I was tipping over all the time. Out here in California, I can get away without the top so I run the bikini top 365 days a year. It's rather cold sometimes and REAL noisy on the highway but, so long as I'm not trying to have a conversation with the passenger, I love it.

Hey Hummerzdad;
That's one ugly visual....... Sure as hell hope you were real drunk.

I run a safari bikini in the summer months. The top covers the back seat and keeps my .................. liquid refreshments....... out of the Georgia sun, and any passengers that happen to be back there too :D

I have the Bikini, duster, windjammer combo, and in the sprinf and summer, usualy run just the bikini and duster. If it is gonna rain, I will put on the windjammer, but it makes the bikini top flap around alot. If I want the safari look, I just take out the rear and side windows and put the duster on.

sup Jeepers?
I run the Bestop bikini from March till about October, then hard-top it for the colder months. The bikini stretchs through out the summer so i have to tighten it down all summer. The stitching on the underside is a little rough and gives me a rash when I wear it in the water :* , oh and was wearing holes in the roll bar covers when I let my TJ wear it.
A buddy of mine had a Safari top for his YJ, but said he hated it (compared to his soft-top). The trailing edge over the backseat isn't a rigid edge and gets into the wind and makes a heckuva racket (he-he, he said rigid). He gave it to me, but my windshild channel is different and can't attach the Safari. He din't have the channel for me.
If anyone has the windshield channel and needs a replacement safari, let me know. You can have it (it's black and brand new).
I have a complaint about Bestop too. Their windshiled channel that I got with my bikini top doesn't compensate for the hard-top latches. I had to completely butcher the channel (took 3-4 inches outta the middle of both sides where the latch holes are). I was quite pi$$ed.

I thought only Italian guys wore those things.

I haven't tried a bikini, I like insulation and security too much.

I'll run right out and pull out my XM and CB just because you said that.

Leaving nothing vauable to take is the only 100% sure method. Alarms only scare most of the theifs who are out just to make some money for drugs. A cheap security system would be to leave serveral empty 12ga shells in your Jeep.

I'm not looking for 100%. If they want it, they'll get it. Any idiot can get a crowbar or pick up a brick. Most people won't break into anything though if you give them enough of a deterrent.

I just don't want some moron with a pocket knife to ruin a soft top when I could have provided that hard top in the first place.

I know plenty of people that this has happened to and I have never had the problem with a hard top.

I have the bikini and a dust cover for the rear. I dont use the dust cover much.
I have to say the Bikini is money well spent. You can stuff it under your tumble seat and in a pinch have some shelter from the weather. I usually have my top off from late May till early Sept so I just stuff mine under my back seat.

I run a bikini top all year long, it gets cold and wet, but i dont mind it....as for the theives, whut i dont get is the fact that they take a knife to a soft top that is just snapped on(happened to a friend of mine).........cmon, all you have to do is pull on it a little bit and there it goes.....people can be dumb

hey ms magoo,
ever consider the bestop sunrider? I had one on my '99 and it was great! in chicago, you need to be ready for any possible change in weather. I kept my duster from the '99 but sold the sunrider w/the '99. I've got a bikini top that I could never get to work, I guess I had the wrong header attatchment? I was considering the safari top for rubi. I'm 6'5" so no way could I use the windjammer. I hope bestop introduces some new products available in the khaki color for the sunrider/bikini's/duster. let me know if you want a deal on a black strapless bikini,(top only) never worn, but I bet you'd look great in it. TJ

I have a 2002 TJ, Skyjacker, 33's and have the duster, windjammer, and bikini combo. I never used the bikini because, until now, i never ordered the no drill windshield channel. What I am wondering is if when it rains and the car is not moving, does any rain get into the inside with the combo and the full doors on? Thanks, -(ChriS)-

With the Bikini, Wind jammer, and duster, a little shower is usualy not a problem, but in a downpour, it can get wet. I will usualy fold my seat forward when parked and it looks like rain.

I'm thinking about a Bestop Sunrider, but these all this bikini talk has me wondering if I want one also. Do all bestop products use the same header so I could interchange them? I've got a 92 YJ and live in michigan.

I know with the TJ's the sunrider has it's own header.

Be careful with the windshield channels (see my previous post on the 1st page). I mailed that brand new Safari top to one of the members (extexan) and he said the header he already had on his YJ looked like it would fit. Haven't heard from him though. Said he was going to try it on this past weekend. We'll see.

You're in OH, about like us in CT...........-7 below 0 don't cut it ;)

It's OK in the summer but, ussually we're trying to get all the sun we can. I keep it behind the seat in case of a quick shower (I remove the entire frame/top when topless/doorless). It's cheap enough ;)
