I have 93 4cyl 5pd wrangler, my question is about the clutch slave cyl. On this model it is not external on the Trans. like on the 95+ models. Is it possible to change the 93 internal to a 95 extenal setup? Have any of you done this and if so, what is needed?
Reason my 93s Hyd. clutch system keeps picking air, I have to bleed it once a week and I can`t find any leaks. I figure it has to be the slave seeping. I also don`t feel that this internal slave setup is very reliable.
What do you guy`s think?
thank you in advance.

There is a place out here in CA that markets a slave cyl. upgrade kit. You can get everything you need to convert from the old mechanical type clutch to the hydralic. I would imagine that they would carry what you're looking for. The place is Harvey's Complete Jeep shop. You can find the on the web.

you cant change to ext. slave unless you change trans case ,just buy a good name brand slave. or if your clutch has a lot of miles buy a clutch pac and change it all. The internal slave is reliable and dosenot give many problems

Hey thanks guy`s for the input. I think I`ll sit on it for a while because I`m not loosing fluid just picking up air into the system.. for now. I just bought the yj a month ago, I guess it`s not killing me to jump under it for 5 min. every 4 day`s or so.
I just want to make sure that this setup is usually reliable. I bought it from a guy that had the Trans rebuilt 20,000 mi. ago with a new clutch, the total on the receipt was $1790.
I did`nt think I`d have to pull the trany alread. :)
thanks
Steve
They can and DO go bad, OFTEN. If you are getting air in the system, upgrage NOW, before you run over an import car (or worse, some poor soul just trying to cross the street) when your left foot goes right to the floor. Mud, dirt, heat and cold weather are all things I have personally seen cause these poor excuses for engineering to fail. You need: bellhousing, clutch fork, real slave cyl., hose, master cyl., release bearing, and front bearing retainer. I'm doing one next week on a friends 91 YJ, she got her parts from J@W Auto Dismantlers in Antelope. CA.
