Just throwing some info out here for a problem I ran in to the other day.
Was working on an 03 Liberty, 3.7L, had crankshaft position code. Someone else had already changed the Crankshaft position sensor. Ended up being the camshaft position sensor. The computer thought it was losing the crank sensor but was not.
Syptoms: Engine will buck and then shutdown. When this happens the tach will go nuts. Will fluctuate up and down then settle around 200 rpm with engine not running.
Caution: Do not leave ignition on very long when this happens. Tow truck driver left the ignition on, it can and will continue to fire the injectors and run fuel pump. Will quickly fill the cylinders full of fuel. Trying to crank at this point could possibly do engine damage.
