Anyone know the letter code designated for the Patriot?
Looks like build is slated to start before the end of 06...

I'm guessing it's "something"-K. So what is up with them starting with all the #K letter codes. Anyone on the inside know?

Probably because since Damiler is German and the pronunciation of 'J' in German results in a 'Y' sound, it was easier to go to a 'K' which they could pronounce.

Anyway, it makes sense to me.

I'm actually looking forward to the Patriot's release. I think it looks really good. If I had the money for payments right now, I'd consider getting one for a DD.

Jeep Tales. What is the point of the Patriot?

In my HO it competes with the Liberty in class and use. And its as aerodynamic as a wrangler or cherokee so you get the good old benefit of having a crappy gas mileage. I see the point, though I completely disagree with the part of putting the name Jeep on it, of the Compass. That's the new SUV for the small family in class with the Vibe, Mazda Yaris, and Caliber for the benfit of better mpg.

MK49 is the Compass

MK74 is the Patriot

Jeep is probably doing what most other manufacturers are doing.... offering a small and simple (relatively inexpensive) SUV to help them comply with the next generation of CAFE standards and to attract the potential new customers. The Liberty has been upgraded a bit, and the price will probably go the same way.
