I know but dealers do not!

I ordered a Rescue Green 2-door X model, (S package) JK from a local dealer about two weeks ago. We have been going to dealers looking at JK's trying to find what we ordered. Ive yet to see one.

Yesterday we drove to Kent Ohio, to Klaben Jeep. They said they had a 2 door in stock. But it wasnt! I asked the salesman where's the 2-door JK.

He looked at me like I just shot his dog.. He was clueless. I said the new Wrangler.. Oh the 4 door Jeep? Yes but the two door.. still nothing going on in his head... We just walked away.

We then went to Preston Dodge, they actually had a 2 door. it was Blue, and very ugly. The blues looks very bad, the tiny tires dont look good either.. But i really like the two door model.

The salesman at Preston, had the cross eyed look when i said were looking at 2 door JK's. He left quickly after I told him we already ordered one.

I just needed to vent. If your going to try and sell me a Jeep atleast know what the hell your selling.

My local/nearby dealership has a small handful of TJs still, and no new JKs yet.

I'm waiting...
and thinking that maybe I can make a steal-deal on that Rubi sitting on the lot!

Most dealers dont know the vehical codes like we do. They dont know XJ, TJ, YJ, KJ, they just know the names on the side of the Jeep. I've found most dealers just know the crap DC tells them they need to know.

I was told by a dealer that the Liberty's IFS was better on and off road then the solid axle, but he couldn't back it up, couldn't explain anything, he just knew what he was told to know.

If you find a dealer that knows half as much about Jeeps as most of us do, buy from him cause you found a good one!!

Dealers here wait to get the JK in March or April... but they do not have brochures nor do they know what a JK is...
Our local dealer even told me my CJ would be a XJ. Good kid :zbangh:

I don't understand how this could happen.

If you saw just how much training DC offers salespeople it?s a wonder how they could be so clueless.

:deadhorse:

I guess for a lot of people selling cars is just a rest stop on the road of life...

I have been doing it for 16 years and my goal is to always be the person in the room how knows the most about the product I sell.

I guess its just pride... I used to be a boy scout and what is their motto?

"Be Prepared!"

Greg, seems like you're the exception of the rule, over here all salespeople I met are more or less clueless, no matter what brand they sell. All they know are numbers... the numbers on their bank account :twak:

Too bad you're on the other side of the big pond...

The dealer that I dealt with in Pittsburgh knew what I was talking about. When I called I asked if the white 4 door JK was still available. He said yes it is. When I got there he had the unlimited sitting out front for me. So if he didn't know, he found out before I got there.

I think it's more common for the mechanics to have the Jeep "bug" than the salespeople. Many of them don't last more than a few months...
Greg, you are clearly the exception, and a welcome relief.

And in rather sad news, my daughter has announced she wants a ricer instead of a Jeep (she's concerned about economy, etc.).

Oh well.

I hate when that happens.

Ask her to at least look at a "Compass" perhaps she will not travel down the dark side.

Good point Tom, I used to be a mechanic at a Jeep dealership. Back before the Libbys hit the showroom floors I stopped into a Jeep dealership and ended up educating them on what it was and a lot of the details about it. Surprised the heck out of me, but hey I figured they knew more about Chrysler than I did.

Greg, you are what a good salesman should be. I feel better buying from someone that really knows about what they are selling me. The guy in Pittsburgh knew a lot about the JK's(2 and 4 door) and made it a point to share that information.

I'm glad you found a guy that knows what he was doing.

I wish they all would.

You would think if this is how people support their family they would want to learn about what they are selling.

Since I'm not good looking or overly charming; product knowledge is the great equalizer for me. My desire to be well informed is what keeps me in the game.

But I am a good friend; a fairly good cook and one hell of a bartender!

Just ask my Jeepin? buddies or my Daughter...

Yeah, me too, but she has a point.
She's even going to buy used. (but you couldda hadda Jeep!?!)
I think she's looking at her bank account and deciding she wants to hang onto her money.
Obviously she didn't get that trait from her mother, so I'm not going to argue that with her.
If she gets along for a while with a $2,000 ricer, that's not so bad... I drove one for a few years myself.

How about a diesel Jeep Tom? I remember seeing CRD Liberties over at your side...
Over here she could pic from the whole range of Jeeps, they have a diesel version of every model from the new Wrangler (starting in 2007), Libby, GC and the old XJs, ZJs and WJs. Had a 2.5 turbodiesel XJ and was very happy with it.

BTW: I got your books today PM your address again and I'll send them to you tomorrow.

When I get the new 2007 JJUSA books in I will send you a few too.

JJUSA sends me 10 cases of 75 per case to start each year and by March I'm out and need more.

PM'd you Greg, thanks a lot in advance.

Oh yeah, a 2007 book would be great. Over here DC leaves us high and dry with those things.

I have had to blow-off the Red River JJUSA for the last two years.

And it's not on the 2007 Schedual!!!

So Now I'm re-thinking what to do in September.

I'd better wait to see what the YO Ranch has planned before I start making too many plans.

Ya thats what my friend said.. they had some stolen cars come up missing out there, and people were getting mugged on the trails.... thats to damn bad, thats an awesome place to wheel. I wish someone would buy it up and make it a offroad park, ie charge like 5dollars for a year memebership.
