I have a 97 TJ with a 3" teraflex lift and 33" Thornbirds. I have been running this size for about 4 1/2 years now, I just rplaced my steering box and pump with an AGR set, but there is still some "play" in the steering. Any other suggestions? It's not bad, just not as tight as it used to be.........

How much play? Are you sure its not the side walls flexing. Get someone on the ground while you turn the wheel side to side and see if they can spot it. Good luck

Thanks Rock, I think that might be it. Somedays there is a little more play than others. Ususally at higher speeds, and it is just a general instability feel. You from Yuba City? I used to live in Chico, now I am in Chicago. How's the weather?

There are bumpsteer correction kits that can help with steering, even if you don't have a bumpsteer problem. They're great for any jeep with a lift, they don't usually work with stock jeeps. Right off the top of my head I can think of the K-Link system (I think) released by Full Traction Suspension. No play and it even uses your own pitman arm, no dropped pitman arm to snag on stumps and rocks.

if it's just at higher speeds, take notice of how heavily-loaded your rig. If it's loaded with gear or chicks it'll react differently than when it's unloaded and you're dateless.

You just might be experiencing the "sway" that comes with higher/softer suspension systems.

Imagine a weight on the top of a stick, (that's a stock jeep). Move it one direction, the top will move a little further than the bottom when you try to stop it. If you have a susp. lifted jeep.... well, imagine a spring with a weight on top of it. That's YOUR jeep. Higher speeds will amplify this effect. Just remember, your jeep ain't a sports car, their is a lot of wieght sitting up higher than a Yugo here.
