I was wondering if anyone had any information on how to get hold of some of those really cool folding steps that you see on the side of ship containers. You know, they're steel oval rings and fold up out of the way when you you don't need them as a step. I don't really know what the particular name is for these things, but i want to get a pair. They can't cost much, right?
I need a pair to let passengers into and out of the cab a little easier. I don't want to use chains, the rattling would drive me up the wall. The sturdier, the better. Any help would be appreciated.

How about some rope? Attach the two ends to the inside of the body, then flip it over the door sill when you want to get in. It can be small rope too, just enough to hold a human being.

Gotta admit, hadn't thought of that....
Here's the whole plan though:
I want to get two steps for the TJ and four steps for the XJ.
The TJ will have them mounted right where the OEM (plastic, yechh!) step went and allow an easier time getting in and out and I'll have a REAL step for pulling stuff off of the roof rack (woohoo!). The same goes for the XJ, but I'll also put one on each of the rear quarter panel protectors as well. Allow my wife and dad to get up to the roof rack, dad's a lot shorter than me... When the tires are wet or muddy, kinda hard to use it as a reliable step. Thought I'd try solving that problem. I saw these cool steel steps that fold up on a shipping container at work and well, I know the Lord says "thou shalt not covet" but.... They'd look really cool too.

Like these? (http://www.fourwheelcampers.com/rear_steps.htm)
Just search Google for "Folding steps" and search through the pages.
I also have seen one of the step things that hooks over a tire and folds up for storeage. I saw it in the 4wd catalog, but could not find it online.
