Are you running a shackle reversal? If not, what are those shackles there? I am not completely familiar w/ YJ suspension.

I honestly don't know. If someone could clear that up, I'd be much obliged. I know they are different from my dad's shackles (they are straight), and I assume he has stockers. Past that, I have no clue.

I got you covered. They are for flat towing the jeep from the shackle point. I have them on my Jeep.
You can barely see them here.

Well, since it won't let me edit my original post...
Got the AX-15 in, as well as a newer NP231, rear yoke & u-joints, and Posi-Lock for the front axle. Doesn't look any different though, so no pics

What Lost-One said on the shackles. They're tow bar shackles. Looking good, man! They're always a work in progress. If anyone ever says otherwise, they aren't a true Jeeper. BTW, love those Pocket Style flares. Always have. Wish I'd have had the $$ when I got mine. Just curious, but, why swap a 4.0L in if you eventually want to go V8? There's some basic and easier stuff you can do to the 4.2L until you're ready for that step like a carb swap.

I cant see the flat towing thing but I can see lights thats for sure. that is alot of light. Do you have to run 2 batterys for that set up?? Nice tho.
Nice looking rig. It's fun to build'em up and learn as you go. PM me sometime and we'll line up a run sometime. I'm not even 10 minutes north of ya.

Thanks for the comments all! Jefery (with one f!), I'll do that. I'm going to be in Ouray nearly the entire summer (painful, I know), but we'll have to work somethin out.
As for my reasoning with the 4.0 - My 4.2 is nearly shot, and while I'm sure I could make it last, I am the type of person who will willingly spend money I don't have yet to get rid of something that might, possibly need to be replaced in 5 years. Thus the AX-15. I don't plan on putting in the V8 until I've graduated, have a good job, and lots of money. That is more of a dream than anything. And once I have a better DD, I won't really need that much power anyway, I just plan on doing trail stuff, with some moderate rock crawlin, but nothing extreme (I know, that will change eventually, but eh). Bottom line: I need a new engine, 4.0L is a cheap, easy install, and it suits my purposes for the next 3-5 years.
Thanks for clearin up the confusion on the shackles. Its nice to know those are there for that reason.
My brother had a set of towing shackles on his 78 cherokee. Had the towbar baling wired up to his grill. Baling wire broke offroading, dropped the bar to the ground and bent the H E double hockey sticks out of his springs. :smiliesc:
he doesnt have the tow bar on anymore.. (not that anything he has could pull that 5000lb beast..)

Ouray is AWESOME!! We went camping down there last memorial day, had a blast. What are you doing down there? Here are some pics from our trip:

I agree, Ouray rocks my socks. I'm actually going to be working on the maintenance staff at the Bachelor-Syracuse Mine Tour after mid-June. I'm really looking forward to it.
Anyhoo, here is another pic of my Jeep, as well as a couple pics from my Ouray trip last summer. The link at the bottom is for the rest of the Ouray pics (my Jeep wasn't there cause I didn't have it yet)
