The new JK Rubicon Unlimited in Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat arrives in a week or two. My '05 Black Rubicon goes to its new owner in the next few days. Happy? Sad? I honestly don't know. Maybe crazy. Enough of the weepy emotion. The new JK is everything the forum and the literature and magazines said it is. Drives and rides better than my TJ ever did. A quick inspection of the undercarriage shows that this baby is much easier to modify, and even a little stronger! Trust me, I did the suspension and driveshaft installations myself on the TJ. I have the ruined knuckles to prove it. The goodies are already coming out. Warn has the bumpers, all the major suspension peddlers have theirs on the marquee! Now the big question is how shall I outfit this new one? Any suggestions are welcome. This is going to be a great project.

Congratulations, sounds great, I would invest in a lift to accomodate bigger tires, if you need more ground clearance, the Unlimited will touch rocks earlier than the 2door JK. As you mentioned, most big after marked brands have things available now for the JK, so check in 4wd.com etc. Later, post some pics.
Have fun!

I'm from El Paso myself....

Graduated from Cathdral in 1981 and UTEP in 1985!

Congrats on the new Jeep.

I'm going to sell my 2003 Rubicon on a new 2007 2 Door JK this week.

I feel like you do; happpy and sad at the same time but I've been driving mine for the last few days and plan to wrap up my deal by the end of the year.

My TJ Rubicon is at the detail shop today getting a thogough cleaning. I'm going to sell it myself, since the trade-in allowance will be insulting. It may take a month or so to get my price, but it will be worth it. NO way I'll ever get 1/2 out of the add-ons that I spent on them, but I won't trade it in at low wholesale and let the dealer reap the rewards. The new silver JK Unlimited arrives next tuesday!

With the money you get from selling your TJ, you should do a Hemi Conversion on your JK!! The V-6 is not enough grunt for the bigger Wranglers. Imagine an 07 Wrangler with a supercharged and intercooled Hemi making 550hp!! Drool...

TJ Rubicon SOLD! My best friend bought it last night to keep it in the family. My Silver JK Rubicon Unlimited ships the 9th. That really gives me some time to evaluate my plans for the "unirubi". Judging by engine performance of my 4.0, the 3.8 is actually going to be better. A HEMI would be nice, but not really necessary. My wife's grand is a HEMI, as is my sister-in-law's Daytona. Neither one can go where I go! On the bright side, I have two potential donors!

Thanks piginajeep. I took the TJ in for service today and checked on the JK. Ships on the 9th, maybe. The dealer guesses two weeks for delivery, but he says deliveries vary all over the calendar. Anyway, I'll be doing the heavy duty stuff with the TJ, so for the fun stuff it doesn't matter if the JK is here in two weeks or a month. Some of the wheeling I do with the TJ is borderline crazy:happydan: , and probably beyond the capabilities of the stock JK Rubicon. However the JK won't remain stock for too long:17: .
