I have a shiney new (well, 3800 miles) Rescue Green Rubicon Unlimited. My first Jeep (not counting the 1949? Jeepster I drove in High School). My wife even encoraged me to buy it--but she didn't drive it first.

Now we find that her height (or lack thereof) makes it very difficult for her to get the clutch to the floor, and the steering wheel is buried in her gut. Not a good way to spend a cross-country trip.

So, I'd like to whomp up some way to adapt fore-and-aft adjustable pedals, similar to what Ford has offered in several of its vehicles for a few years.

I'm interested to know if anyone has done this, or if there might be a kit already on the market.

I'm open to ideas.

Blocks of wood and duct tape.

If its not out there you might try a local custom shop, for an arm and leg they might rig something up for you.

If you have a shop in you market that does "Special Needs" conversions in your market the make a good looking product that folds out of the way when you dont need it.

They call them pedel extenders.

Thanks for the suggestions--the duct tape & a piece of 2x4 was my first thought. It wasn't well received by the short person in question (she has other redeeming qualities). I also suggested platform shoes (see any Kiss photo).

I have a lead on a guy locally who is supposed to be a Jeep Wizard; I'll see what he might conjure up.

My intent is to drive to AZ in June--duplicating a trip to NM last September in our car. This time, I don't plan to let any rough roads deter us from seeing the sights.

For what it's worth, I am truly in love with this Jeep. The only glitch I've seen (now at 4500 miles) is that my Traction Control has thrown a warning light on the dash twice. Both times, I've shut the vehicle down, waited a bit, and restarted. The fault has cleared, and has not reappeared in the last two weeks.

Other than that, absolutely no problems. I'm amazed.

My wife says this is my last vehicle--period. I hope she's right.

My Commander has adjustable pedals....maybe they will work on the JK?? At least it is already in a Jeep.

Does your Commander have a stick, or a slushbox? I probably know the answer to that.

I considered the pedal assembly from Ford, as offered in a Lincoln Nagivator, Taurus, etc. It seems that none of these pedals are built with a clutch pedal.

As another respondent suggested previously, maybe the "special needs" suppliers are where I should be looking.

Auto (no manual available??)...nice little adjustment button in the center stack. Dual memory, so I haven't had to adjust them since the wife and I set our preferences.

I think the GM trucks (2500) have the adjustable pedal option with manual tranny. Maybe one of those kits could be made to work? Otherwise the special needs people could probably fix you up for a fee.
