Hey guys,

I've got an oil leak that has just developed after I upgraded to a weber carburetor conversion on my 79 CJ5 with a 258. The leak is coming out of the top of my oil dipstick. Anyone else out there run into this problem? I've attempted a number of different things to try to stop the leak but just can't seem to get it under control. Any help or suggestions you might have I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks...

Try checking your PCV valve, and hoses. The valve should rattle if you shake it, or put your thumb over it while its running rpm's should change.
Sounds like back pressure in the crank case.Too much pressure could blow a head gasket. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info. I've already checked my lines and PVC valve and everything seems to be in proper order. I've since replaced the vent line from the valve cover into the carb with a breather and that seems to have relieved some of the pressure. I'm also thinking that my dipstick and dipstick tube are a little past their prime and need to be replaced. Does anyone have a source for a 258 dipstick assembly? What I've found in the local bone yards have been in worse condition than what I currently have.

Thanks for the help guys.
