The autolock feature on my JK was driving me crazy. I read in another forum where you could do it yourself and I had repeatedly tried with no success. I went to a dealer and they hooked it to the computer and had it done in about 15 minutes. Nice to be able to make my own decision about when I want my doors locked

Glad you got it set the way you want.
I still find it odd that you can't set them yourself, since in other Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler vehicles you can.

That would drive me completely insane. I can't stand to be in a vehicle that locks the doors by itself. Almost as bad as lights that turn on by them selves. I think I can see when it is dark out and I need my lights!!
Here's my scenerio. You wreck and trash the battery, now your door locks don't work. There isn't a whole lot of thought into manualy operating the locks (I think Fords are the worst) They can be quite difficult, when was the last time you've tried to unlock your power locked car by hand?
Now your stuck, the doors won't open and your sinking into the river. Only if that dang door was unlocked, you could open the door!!
Heck, I'm not even sure if my door locks work in my Jeep! Haven't used them in months.

my lock on my drivers side door doesnt work. theres a debnt on the outside and not the door latch sticks i have to hit it to get it to let go. door locks on a soft top are pointless

or what if your spare falls off and you have to jump out really quick and get it off the road before it hits another vehicle. what would you do if the doors were locked?????

uuuuhhhh...the doors will still open from the inside whether they are locked or not (unless you have child safety lock turned on for the rear doors)...are you guys serious??

There are some stupid car companies out there (like my wife's old Isuzu Rodeo) that won't let you open the door from the inside without unlocking it first. It really sucked!

Yep, there are some that you have to unlock first. IIRC my YJ had that problem. But I do agree, locks on a soft top are pointless. I still lock the doors, force of habit tho.
