does anyone know if there is a conversion kit to change the front end of a 95 YJ to a newer one with the round headlights? or if i buy the front grill with the round headlight ports, will it fit? thanks,

As far as I can tell, and I have one of each(CJ, YJ, TJ) the grills are different and will not fit as is. There may be a way to "cut and paste" so to speak. It would probably take some serious fabrication. The new TJ grills are shorter than the YJ's. I haven't seen it done yet, but with some determination, I don't see why someone couldn't make it happen. The only other way, with out too much fab, would be to change everything from the crease forward. That would be both fenders, the hood and the grill. I would venture a guess that the newer fenders would bolt up. I will look at my TJ and YJ and see what I can find out for you. Will post again later.

r u joking joker about the "pimpin" square headlights? that was the only downfall i had about buying a 95 model. jeeps should have round headlights period!!!!!! As soon as i can get this fixed up(mods that is) i'll look into buying a rubicon. that might take awhile though if the wife has anything to do with it. lol.
thanks scrambler013 for the research.

No joke, just wondering. It's the first time I've ever heard of anyone wanting to do that. Of course, my opinion is that all Real Jeeps are leaf sprung. If you want coils, buy a car :D To each his own I guess. What ever makes ya happy, go for it :)

When they designed the YJ, lots of manufacturers used square headlights, it was the "in " thing to do.
So who cares what headlights it has ? Buy a newer Jeep

Round, square, as long as they work, who cares? REAL JEEPS get driven offroad PERIOD. Anything that never leaves pavement might as well be a minivan for all I care. XTEX, why don't you just swap in a grill from a CJ? That way you would still have turn signals. I would personally swap CJ fenders too, but have been told just the grill will swap. (either way you would need to use a CJ hood) BTW joke, I'm building a CJ8 with TJ coils in front and Cherokee leaves in back. Does that make it 1/2 a REAL JEEP (but 0% "pimpin")?

Swap a CJ front end (hood, fender, and grill) onto it.
A TJ front end will not work, the shape of everything, including the cowl, is different.
In order to swap on a CJ front end, the CJ grill is approximately 1" taller so you will need a 1" body lift installed on the YJ first.
Also because the CJ grill is flat, and the YJ's projects out further, the CJ grill will have to be moved back about 1".
But it is a very common, and successfull, project.
Here are a couple write ups - http://www.mn-jeep.com/features/cj-yj/1.shtml http://jeepskate.4x4.org/Tub.htm

 Please don't. Don't you have something better to do on it? like a suspension lift?
