Here are some pics of my 89 YJ in progress --- So far it has a D44 in the front D50HP in the rear, and of coarse a Ford 5.0L and C-4 trans with a D20 transfer case. Hope to have it done by this summer

Looking awesome, man! Looks to me like a CJ grille face grafted onto the YJ grille structure, cause the corners are still pretty squared. I know I guy who would give you case of beer for de-square eyeing a YJ, but I won't give him the pleasure of knowing that it's been done. Some day my YJ will be going through a similar transformation at some point, but it'll keep those square headlights just to piss off my friend, LOL!!

now i see what ya sayin, whoever it was had a little extra time on there hands, to actually think of that and not just slap on the original grill

I love to see someone doing it different than everybody else. ford running gear, dana 50 rear (definitely cool-I considered one), coilovers, round-eyed yj grille. everything is just awesome. post some finished pics as soon as you can!

how did you do the coil over? did you get a kit or make one and how much lift are you running?

The grille was donated by a 42 GPW widened by one bar and bent in the center to fit the YJ core support. Im still trying to find another grille to cut the center bar out of !!!!! Im still trying to figure out what type of head lights to use I may end up with TJ style lights or go with the old military style to give it that old look !!!
The tires are the new Toyo Open Country MTs Im gonna give them a try man they are heavy.
I bought this YJ as a basket case and it included a Black diamond Coil Over lift BUT if I was to do it over again it would be easier to build my own. That kit is Very nice if you use the stock axles but when you change out the axles it makes the brackets for the three link wider then the track bars to short and its not adjustable SO theres alot of things I would change
Im just about ready to tear it back down one last time clean, paint and get the trans rebuilt then back together for the summer !!!!!
Here is a pic of the rear axle which is the front axle out of a 350 Super duty Ford pu I retubed it, put 9" Ford big bearing ends on it.
