Coolant Leak

Just picked up my new flame red 4-door a week and a half ago. So far it has been back to the dealer twice for a coolant leak that they can't find :confused: . small amounts of coolant appear on the air filter box, the lower radiator hose and all the suspension componenets under the passenger side front of the vehicle. engine runs in the normal temp range and the expansion tank has required some small amount of additional fluid. Mostly it just smells like coolant all the time. anybody out there experienced anything similar with a new JK? Dealer seems clueless.

have you check the head gasket? a blown head gasket might have these symptoms:

leaking radiator
milkshake colored oil,
overheating,
rough running,
coolant or oil running from head,
spark plug(s) that have a green tint (if green coolant), white colored or sweet smelling Jeep exhaust (http://www.jpartsonline.com/jeepexhaust.html).

Well i got the same thing in my tj can't find it... once a mechanic told me it was a faulty weld but it wasn't leaking vast amounts due to the fact that it was so hot that it vaporized instantly. Since it was vaporizing almost instantly it was clogging the whole until it broke lose again... maybe thats it?

Thanks for the input guys. I finally found the leak and had to tell the technician at the dealer what to fix. Could have easily fixed it myself but I was pretty pissed after two unsuccesful trips to the dealer. It turned out to be a pinhole leak in the overflow hose. It was on the underside and, due to heat, would evaporate from the hose after it squirted all over the engine compartment. Do they even make real mechanics any more or are they just high priced parts swappers?:soapbox: :soapbox: :soapbox:
