I have an 83 CJ7 and I'm getting ready to replace the stock carburetor with a Weber K551-38. Currently the CTO and EGR switches are capped. Do I need to use these? What is the downside to leaving them disconnected?
Thanks,
Marc

Try this link: http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/258bbd/index.htm
or http://home.sprynet.com/~dale02/list.htm
There is a section called "What Controls What". Looks like the CTO feeds info to the computer and the EGR is independent of the computer.
I got rid of all that stuff along with the ECU and wiring. My '86 CJ7 has the Weber, Clifford Intake & Header and Juice Box coil & distributor cap/wires.
You may want to do the "Nutter Bypass".

Did you reconnect the stepper motor? From everything I've seen this is done away with. Did you do the Nutter Bypass?
