Anyone got some favorite wheelin music?
For me? Depends on my mood, but I can cover any mood with about 3 artists/groups:
Metallica (the early stuff)
Jimmy Buffett
then there's Texas Country: any of these (doesnt matter)
Robert Earl Keen
Pat Green
Cory Morrow
Kevin Fowler
Jason Boland
Pete Benz
Peter Dawson
Charlie & Bruce Robison

If its a really tricky spot, I prefer no music, so i can hear the sounds of the jeep. If it's normal easy stuff, its:
System of a Down
Tool
Limp Bizket
Just about anything except ghetto rap.

Ditto Leadfoot, but if I'm really wanting to listen to something it's usually like Golden Earring or George and the Destroyers....

Well, it depends on the terrain. Usually the rocky $hit makes my cd player skip. But when the terrain is ok, I listen to:
Creed (of course)
Disturbed
Lincoln Park
POD
Puddle Of Mudd
Incubus
etc etc

I tend to listen to classical stuff while wheeling, but turn it off when the going gets tricky.. I like to be able to hear what's going on around me.
I don't like to listen to stuff while wheeling that tends to get the adreneline pumping... I prefer more calming sedated stuff. Seems to keep me from doing more aggressive stuff with the jeep leading to less breakage.

For just tooling around town, by myself: Disturbed, any Metallica, NIN, any heavy metal, we have a station in erie called Planet Radio 93.9 they play all new rock and metal. With the wife: country music, Garth, Tim, Gary Allen, Kenny, and Country 98 WXTA.
For off road I need something a little calmer to keep me from wigging out and trashing something so then I listen to: U2, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Depech Mode, Eagles, There is no station that plays all that stuff so if I get into some serious s*^t I just turn it all off.

If you want a station that gives that to you, get XM. You can find a station that plays all of that on the same station, trust me.... it's awesome.
You don't have to worry about losing reception either, the only place I found where it didn't come in crystal clear was in a tunnel.

a study tip from a goat
I have a great one for getting the great mindset until the volume comes down... Darude "Sandstorm", its techno/danco, but it gets you pumped up... but then its everything already listed before, maybe a little G'n'R welcome to the jungle or sweet child o mine
The sweet sounds of 380HP MoPar 360. (The only radios in my LWBs are made by Cobra) 8)

When I'm in the dunes or around town I like classic rock and some of the newer stuff. I must admit I don't even know the names of a lot of the newer stuff. When I'm in the mountains I like it quiet probably why I havent had a stereo in the jeep for around a year now. But theres no way I'm going to run into a herd of elk with the Stones. Pink Floyd, AC DC or such blastin away LOL.
