Skid Plates

i have an 04 sport without skid plates. i have spoken to the parts guys at the local jeep dealer, and can get the front diff plate, t-case, and gas tank plates. but they didn't list the main underbody plate that covers the tranny and back of motor. the 05's have one. is there no oem one for the 04's? what's the deal? is stock a better fit, easier to install than aftermarket, and less expensive? i have checked out skid row.com, and they show the plate, but what about fasteners. i have the holes, but nothing for the bolt to attach to. are they using nutserts? are they included? AAAAAHHH!! :zbangh:

The dealer does not even carrier a t-case skid any more. They still show a part number but it is not available. The factory gas tank skid is OK. The front diff skid is good. No if you are going to wheel your KJ then there are a couple of vendors out there that make some of the best skids around. Kilby makes the best gas tank skid on the market. The price is right and man they are strong. Then All J Products (Boulder Bars) makes some of the strongest skids for the KJ as well. Skidrow makes some great stuff but the Skid Row KJ plate will bend for sure. it is way too long without support. We have taked to them about it a lot of times in the past and they feel is does it job. Most of us have moved on from using them now and almost everyone uses the All J Product skid and their slider bars called Boulder bars. Hope this helps. later...clint

thanks for the pics. i checked out all j, and looks good, and price ok. doesn't seem too hard to install. how would one go about protecting the t-case then? i suppose junk yard and see...thanks again for the pics.
