Rear Door Lock Assembly Replacement??

I've got a '91 Wrangler. The rear door lock assembly does not lock. The lock itself is functioning...I even had a locksmith check it out. He indicated that all that needed to be replaced was the actual lock mechanism and not the key thingy.

Any idea where I can get a replacement? New or used? Help?

May be easier to go to a junkyard and just get the whole lock and then have it re-keyed??

Been calling junk yards...and nobody has what I need. They keep referring me back to the dealer...who wants $50 for it. Not worth that much at this point in time to me.

If anybody has any good used Jeep bone yard info...i'd happily call them.

Are you sure that you have all of the latch rods installed? I have pictures from chiltons that I can email you if you need it. Exactly whats it doing. Not latching closed or not locking when you use the handle?


I had a smilar prob with my drivers door. Took it apart, oiled it up put it back, works fine.

Oh, as for the other follow up question...I can open and close the door just fine...and the tumbler assembly seems to be working fine...it just won't lock (the mechanism does not engage).

J&W had the lockset I needed. UPS says it will be here today. Will install this weekend and post results.
