Hello all. After having spending most of my life wanting a Jeep, I finally purchased a new JK Sahara. We love it!
I have a newbie question (I tried the search feature, BTW).
What cleaners to you recommend for the windows and top? I have found a few like Bestop Cleaner, but do you have some other recommendations? Is Amor All a good product to use on the soft top????
Also, I am in search of a top boot and a way to store my windows. IS the Clover Patch Window roll recommended? Is $72 a good price?
Thanks in advance!

i'd try to keep away from rolling the windows. the plastic will develop creases and folds after a while and will be a pain to make it latch into the body tub and door jam. i don't remember the name of the cleaner but it's 3 bottles and they sell it in quadra tec and 4wheel drive hadware. the only boot i've seen is the mopar boot. i've always liked the way they looked but never really found a good time to use one. if i wanted the top down long enough to bag it i would remove it all together. that was w/ my yj's, and well, they were a bit more rugged. rain sleet, snow, bird s*!t the top could be off w/ no harm.

Check this out (http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?jeep-sid=179&plID=0&partID=15055)
I use the Bestop protectant and like it. I thought I would just use Simple Green on my top...not so good....at least for my tan top. I just can't seem to get it clean. I'm thinking of this kit. The scratch remover is reputedly the best stuff out there.

Thanks for the rec's on the cleaner.
Window storage:
Does anyone else have any insight on how to safely store the side and rear windows when the top's down? I'd like to be able to take them with on trips in case of the weather. Thanks for any and all opinions. They are appreciated.

Our host markets sleeves and cases for the windows. I just roll mine up in towels and toss em under the bed until winter.

i just lay my side windows on the rear floor(w/ balnkets if on a trip w/ stuff on them). i've never needed to remove my rear window on my jk or on any of my yjs. just un zip the tow side zippers till your around the corners and use the alastic straps.

I bought the clover patch window roll. 4wd.com has it. IMO its nicer than the bestop window roll.

I've got the Clover Patch Roll as well. I originally bought it for my '04 TJ. I've used it once on the new JK and wasn't as impressed. They've changed the design on how the side windors secure to the door frames and they don't rool up the same way. I'm going to try a new method to try and get them to roll up before I make my mind up, though. :koolaid:
When out and about , I've been laying them in the back flat and placing a soft blanket in between them.

Why weren't you impressed with the Clover Patch? I have been thinking about getting it to store my windows. I use the back seats so storing them there is out of the question. TIA

the only deal I have is, it would be simple to make.
Bestop uses blue cloths as window seperaters, its almost like the blue throw away shop cloths.
Clover patch is a thick felt. the only pain in the *** is finding a clean place to lay it down. then again, I didnt buy the roll to keep the windows scratch free, thats never going to happen. I just wanted a place to store them if I'm out and the rain hits.

I may just make my own. Your description make it sound easy enough. I'm going to the fabric store and see if I can get some felt and some velcro to keep it rolled up.

Dunno if anyone else has seen this, but on TRUCKS! on speed tv they used that Flitz (yes, the metal polish) powerball thing to clean up some windows on a TJ. They were cleaning spots where the window had fogged up due to being rolled up, and I'll be damned if it didn't make those windows look brand new. Just a thought, and I roll y windows up and put them in a floding chair chair, perfect fit too.

Here's what I did.
I went to a fabric store and bought a few yards of chamois cloth which came to about $9. Then I asked for a tube that the fabric came on (4-5 inches in diameter) to support the roll. With a little extra fabric left over, I cut strips to use as ties. The windows are all rolled up in the back. It worked out great and a lot cheaper.
I bought my clear vinyl cleaner at the nautical store, the same product that boaters use on their dodgers.

i heard youre only supose to use the bestop cleaner on their tinted windows, is this true? because i really dont feel like ordering it from 4wd id rather drive to a local auto supply and by the meguires plast-x, i also had a local jeeper tell me he used light rubbing compound and then a wax over it on his clear windows and he claimed it works great (i couldnt see because he had his top off)
