Hey everybody!
How much of a pain in the rump would it be to convert a Ford 9" with a leaf spring set up to a coil for my TJ? I might be getting my hands on a 9" for the rear and D44 for the front.
Thanks. :)

:USA: Not hard at all if you take your time. If it was me I'd get the brackets from the factory if the tubes are the same O.D. If not you ca get them lots of other places. Good Luck

The hardest thing you have set in store for you is the measurements for welding the suspension mounts onto the axlehousing. You'll have to get the measurements exactly the same on each side. If you don't, well... excessive tire wear at highway speeds will be seen as one of the smaller problems you will encounter.
You may also need to think about how wide the new axle will make your wheels track. Ideally, they need to be same width as the front, cutting or installing spacers might be a reasonable solution for you there.
I would leave this to a professional shop if I you're not an experienced builder.
A Ford 9-inch is always a good upgrade if you do it right though.

It's looking like a super 35. I do like the Ford 9" better than an 8.8, but I figured an 8.8 would be better due to the amount of Explorers in junk yards. (Firestone) I would like to get a Dana 44 (rear) until the $$ !
Thanks for the info, I would leave it to the pros. There is a couple of real good axle shops around here. There is Drive Train Specialists in Taylor MI. (I think?) They have products that will make you drool, but make ME pass out on the price.
