Has anyone seen any news out yet?
It almost appears as if it has moved into the old XJ "slot"...

Yes, I saw a pic of one a while ago and it is definately more boxy, like an XJ. Could Cricket be getting a little cousin? Is there to be a Miss Libby 2? Sounds like they've made some improvements for the trail crowd.

Yeah, when I saw that first thing I thought was "Aaron's going to soil himself over this!"
I don't care too much for the Commander-looking front end though.
As an aside, for a long time (ever since I put the ARB front on my Wrangler) I've noticed cars start to pull out in front of me and then do a quick brake instead. And I'd also noted that reflexively about half of those folks would then reach over and buckle their seat belts.
:icon_lol:
While Miss Libby is in the shop, I'm commuting in the Wrangler, and saw that "buckle up" reflex twice today on the way home. I'm thinking those drivers may be experiencing visions of their own mortality/doom.
Anyone else with a noticeably strong front bumper see similar results?

They have the '08 Libby on display here in Germany at the huge IAA car show. Of course they are again calling it Cherokee, they don't like the name Liberty over here.
I like the design, much like the Commander, away from the rounded forms of the first generation Libby back to the roots

Saw one at one of the dealerships around here. Didn't stop to look at it close, but looking at it online, it's basically just a smaller version of the Commander from the outside. Unless they ever decide to go back to two straight-axles, there will never be a "cousin" to the XJ.

Sadly enough I doubt that day will ever come! Unless one of us hit the lottery and buy Chrysler....what did they go for 7.4 Billion?? That aint that much!!

A few folks do a front axle conversion and get a pretty wheelable Jeep out of it.
:boohoo:
I'm not sure it's all worth getting too worked up about it.
What is, is.
:smoke:
We just have to deal with it.

Hey, you guys can cease screwing around with my DD, ok?
:brows:
I'm leaving Miss Libby pretty much stock(ish).
It's a commute Jeep.
But you're all welcome to purchase one and mod the fool out of it as you like. I'm going to try to focus mods (within the limits of my budget goals) on the TJ, instead of getting sidetracked on multiple projects.

The new Libby is sweet. I kind of miss mine. Too bad the diesel isn't an option now.

Heck yeah! The more aggressive-looking the vehicle, the more meeker commuters fear it. Had a '79 Ford truck once, g'friend hit a deer and busted out the grille...bumper was bent so I removed it, wanted something up there to hang the plate on and keep the Law off my back, so I hung a log with some chain "straps" on it. NO-ONE got in my way!!!
I like the looks of the new Libby. Be a nice commuter, but they're too small for me. I need more seats for the Horde!

Anybody see the commercial for it yet? With all the animals. The coyote shocked me at first, the made me laugh my arse off. :giggles:

Haven't, but I'll keep my eyes open for it.
Now that I've had some time to get used to mine, I have to say it is a perfect commute Jeep. Still don't anticipate it ever being anything but my "street Jeep" but it sure has nice features, lots of pep, and a nice ride (oh yes, the sun roof doesn't quite make up for not being able to take the top off, but it helps a little).

I just looked at the site...
there's a bird, a squirrel, and a wolf with 2 commercials each.
Wacky, but seem like good fun.
I especially got a kick out of the "licking the screen" thing... took me completely by surprise.
Looks like Jeep has a winner for commerical spots here.

Yea, that silly wolf licking the screen was totally unexpected. I thought it was a coyote at first because it looks smaller than a wolf. Maybe cause of the summer coat. Jeep has really gotten some interesting commercials lately! :rolling:

Yeah, that's a nice feature... even better than my sun roof! (Well, when it rains, I can look up through the glass)
Presuming it is still mostly the same vehicle as my 2007, then it's a great commuter/dd Jeep, and while there are people that mod, lift and wheel them, I don't plan on that... although things could always change.

Ok Tom, I will quit pickin on you about that. But if you end up beefin up Miss Libby, and wheel her, I am entitled to an "I told ya so!", right? :brows: :toothles:

Did you get things resolved with the Miss Libby incident? She all fixed up and purty again?

Yes Ma'am. All patched, straighterned and painted up nice and new looking again.
Hopefully it'll stay that way for a while.

CRD is not an option in Massachusetts, unfortunately.
I hear great things about them...
you have one, right? so how's the acceleration?
And is that engine heavier than the gas (stiffer springs in other words?)?
