My 93 YJ has a fuel leak from the pressure line from the fuel pump in the
tank. There are two lines comming from the tank, one is the pressure and one is the return line I think. They both currently have 5/16" rubber hose (part#3055) line comming from them. So, I went out and bought some new line. But once I took off the old lines it is obvious that the pressure side of the pump is larger. And I cannot put the new 5/16" line over it.

Does anyone know if the 5/16 is the right size or did the last owner force
5/16 over the fitting when it should have been 3/8"?

Can I just put 3/8 hose on and find a brass fitting to size it down to fit the
5/16??
Or
Should I do the right thing and replace the whole 3/8th line?

Not sure on the correct size, but if 5/16 don't fit, I would not force it.

Definitly don't force it. That would stress the rubber and weaken it. Some hoses are formed with a larger diameter end to fit the fitting. I'd say if the 5/16" is too small, try a 3/8".

Just speaking off the cuff here, the only experence I have with the fuel line is changing the fuel filter.

The hoses can come with different inside diameters. You have to check it because most of the people that work at these stores are idiots. Both lines may 5/16 but the inside diameters are different.
