View Full Version : 4 inch lift
Hey guys is there a magic # for height of lift where you have to do the sye and cv shaft. I called a local shop and he said if i get a 3.5 lift i would possibly need the other mods he said i should go RE 2.5 and i would be able to clear 33 inch tires cause it would more than likely raise it up higher tha 2.5 I have a 90 yj stock suspension 221000 on it it looks like the outer end of each spring is starting to bend the other way! Any help would be great also any opions on brands of lifts? he seems to be trying to steer me away from the 4wd is this one a quality lift it seems to be Sorry for the long post .........Later

What year and engine combo do you have?
I have a 93 v8 and I have never needed to do any drivetrain mods up to my last suspension combination that was 9.5" of lift.
I started with the RE LA 4.5" kit. I then added 1" pucks, then 2" pucks. I never had any problems with vibs and so forth. The one advantage i had though was adjustable arms which allowed me to dial in my pinion angles perfectly.
I just helped my friend do a F>R swap on his 95 v8. That usually nets around 3-3.5". We put 33's on it and only had to do a small amount of trimming in the front to make them ultimatly clear.
IMO, i would go the 4"...ONLY if you can get control arms of some sort to compliment the lift. Hope that helps. :crossbone
