A snorkel increased my mileage my almost 1 MPG, not a whole heck of a lot but it's a good accessory to have installed anyway.

O.K. I'll admit stupidity up front -- what the hell is a "snorkel"?

It is a tube that pulls air into the intake from above the roof so that you can ford a stream and not get water in the intake. Now here comes my question how the h311 does it give extra fuel economy? :kookie:

Switch to full synthetic Mobil 1 motor oil. Both 10W-30 and 5W-30 are both fuel conserving oils. Mobil 1 says their best fuel conservation comes with their fulll synthetic 0W-30. That oil weight isn't in my owners manual though.

The snorkle can also give somewhat of a "Ram Air" induction too, but not much.
Drive slower, don't floor it all the time, use cruise control

:USA: add a K&N air filter and change your exhaust to a free breathing type like a flow-master. Fuzzy

Scrap your cat converter, straight pipe it and replace your muffler with a glasspack.

It gives a slight ram-air effect and the downtube for the snorkel has a cooling effect on the incoming air by keeping it away from engine heat. It's not much of an effect, but almost 1mpg added is an addition.
Trying to get better fuel economy out of a 4-wheel-drive is kinda like running a marathon backwards.

I upgraded to a high output coil, Bosch +4 plugs, and high perf plug wires, better performance=better efficiency. I notice a slight difference in my fuel economy.
