It's cheaper than most lift options, but what's the best product? What should I avoid? How much lift can I expect?

:USA: I know people do it all the time but a shackle lift is not good. You can only go about an inch without running into problems. The most important of which is that now you pinion is pointed down instead of being flat and that can create drive line vibrations. Save your money and do it right the first time. Buy a real lift. Have fun.

I've been running a 2" shackle lift for over 2 years now with no problems. Plenty of clearance for 30" tires with no rub. I'm gunna try 31" in the spring/early summer. All the Tech sheets say a 2" shackle lift is the max. Any more than that and you'll get sway in the leafsprings and poor handling. Be aware, that for a 2" lift, the shackles will be approx. 4" longer. This will change your approach angle as the longer shackles will hang down further. The other drawback is that the shackle will be pushing down on the outside ends of the springs, thus straighting out the "curve" of the springs.
It's an inexpensive way to get a 2" lift. I don't like the looks of a 2" body lift and a body lift will cause a few more problems you'll have to work out. If you go the shackle lift route, get the shackles that are welded in an "H" pattern with the center support welded into place. Also, greasable shackle can be had (or make your own grease bolts) and change your rubber bushing to poly.
I plan on a suspension lift or a SOA some day, but my YJ is a daily driver right now and I can't set it on jack stands for more than 1 day at a time.

I have the Full Traction 2" reveres shackle lift. I am running 32" BFG's right now on my 93YJ. It works great and was easy to install. I had to extend my Brake lines they are a little short for wheeling. I like the reveres shackle lift because it moves the solid mounts to under the front fender and moves the shackle to the back of the fount springs. I have found by doing that I added protection to my Steering box with the new front mount and when you hit things with your tires like Toyota Avalon's, It allows the spring to push back on the movable shackle rather than the hard frame mount. It makes it a easier bump. It can also be easily converted to a 5" lift with changing the shackles. If that is some thing you want in the future. Its been said its bad due to the axle moving back I have NOT had a problem with the 2" lift. You might find that problem if you do the 5" Lift. I have had no problem with drive line vibration and my lift has been on my daily driver for over 6 months now.
What is it you want to do with the Jeep is it for a daily driver or is it for wheeling? What kind of trails will you be running?
Did you E mail me about it? Someone did and a Deleted the E mail by mistake. SORRY!!

personally i dont like shackle lifts... i have a 1 1/4 inch on my 94 YJ. i am getting driveline vibrations from it, i am saving my penny's to get a set of dana 44 axels and do a SOA when i get em and get that shackle lift off of there, then possibly later a spring lift. I also have a body lift(3 inches)... i dont recommend these over 1 inch, they body mounts make the body more unstable and now my car is tilted to the front a bit... its going to take me awhile to get my jeep back in shape the way i want it...
if its a daily driver and you dont want to be faced with problems that make it a PIA to drive i dont suggest it. mine is a daily driver and i am about the only person that can drive it because it is so tempermental to feather the clutch just right, or it goes haywire because of vibration...

Thanks for the replies.
It's my daily driver. I may go with the 2 1/2" suspension lift and a 1" body lift someday.
Right now, I'm pouring all my money into the cooling system.
