I'll be installing bigger tires (as soon as the @$#%@ rims come in) and was wondering if there is a way to adjust the speedo to compensate. I've taken out the cluster and had it in many pieces but I don't see anything useful as far as calibrating it.

Thanks,
gregg

P.S. The suspension lift went well. By myself with home-made spring compresser about 5 hrs total. Many thanks to Scramble013 and his excellent instructions. Ya might want to mention in the future though that those Torx 55 bolts are torqued at about 5,000,000 ft/lbs and incredibly difficult to get off - ha ha ha.

They are aren't they. I guess I missed some stuff. Sorry about that. As for the speedo, you can get new gears that go in the transmission. That is where the speedo gets its info from. There is a forum around here somewhere that has a link to a page about changing gears and how to do it. I will repost when I find it.

Go to Stu's site and read about how to do it. (http://www.stu-offroad.com/speedo/speed1.htm)
Here is a chart for what gear you will need (http://www.jeeptech.com./javaAps/Speedo.html)

Hey Blupupher -- thanks for the link. Pulled out the old gear and it's a 41 so I need to get a 36. Can you get one on the web? My last resort is a dealer (I hates dealers).

Thanks,
gregg

Sorry, dealership is the only place I know of to get them, or maybe on a WTB forum somewhere. They usualy run $8-$15, depending on the dealer.

cool chart, thx.j looks like I'll only be off 1 tooth, wonder if worth the expence? (4.11-31" = 38, 4.56-35" = 37) TJ

Ordered a new gear today - $13. If yours is only gonna be off 1 tooth, I wouldn't bother. That's only 2.7% error. At 100 mph you'd be showing 97.3 mph.
