On this outing into history we will follow in the footsteps of the pioneers and what was the most infamous part of the California Emigrant Trail, The 40 Mile Desert.
We will start our off highway part of our journey with a stop at the Ocala Cave, this was not part of the trail but it?s close by and offers a great view of the sink. From the Ocala Cave we will head north to the Humboldt Bar this was the parting of the of the California Trail. From here the emigrants could either go west taking the Truckee River Route or south thru the 40 mile desert taking the Carson River Route, This is the way we will go on this trip. We will visit all 7 of the historical markers that mark the trail from the Humboldt Drain to the end of the 40 Mile Desert at Ragtown. If time permits we may visit the old dog track and do a little playing in some dry washes. I have
