Hey, new guy here. I have had some security issues w/ my Jeep and want to buff up a little. I recently had my gas cap ripped off, who knows why :( , but luckily I had a lockable cap from my old mustang that actually fit. I'm mainly worried about what's under the hood. If someone wants to take something, nothing's stopping them. I also noticed that the fuse box is underneath the hood and if someone simply pulls out the starter fuse to be a jerk, you're not going anywhere. My question is which hood lock works best. I have seen the lock that goes behind the grill and simply prevents the release handle from being pulled but I don't know if I trust that. I have also seen locking hood latches that replace the factory latches. Does anyone actually have either kind and do they work well? Does anyone have an alarm system that has motion sensors that works well w/ minimal false alarms? Any advice on steering column locks or door hinge locks. All my Jeep has for security is hard doors with a hard top, and I'd like to fix that. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions given. Thanks

I've had good luck with the hood lock. It was pretty cheap, and is very simple in design.

Whatever alarm system you use do not go with bulldog. they advertise a system for a dopler radar. takes forever to install then doesnt work. customer service wasnt much help either. the above mentioned hood lock worked great for me also! :g

mopar accessories has a lockable hood latch that the key cylinder is inside the drivers door by the floor. ive seen a few on newer jeeps that have rusted and failed working......i think the cable rusts and then breaks. I think tuffy makes some options as far as the same setup pictured above or interior key cylinder like mopars.
As for motion detection.....if you have or install mopars keyless entry system....you can add motion detectors onto that system......not sure on how well they work though.....i think the parts are available here in the states but it was part of the canadian keyless entry system. need mopar diagnostic tool to setup in us vehicles though.
