Dadgumit! Acantare took my topic! Oh well, not wanting to steal his thread, I went ahead and made my own. I own a '81 CJ-7 w/ 307 SBC conversion. Needless to say, not good on gas. Am looking to get a ZJ in the next 6 months. Might do some very light offroading. What were the best years? We owned a '93 and a '95 when I was younger (both 4.0L) but I was too young to drive them to know anything about them. What engine do y'all prefer? I've heard the 4.0L is longer-lasting. Is the V-8 worth the extra horses? Any other stuff I should look out for? GC's around here are a dime a dozen, and I've seen everything from the 4.0L Laredo to the V-8 Limited for sale around here...

Also, this should go without saying, but 4WD is also a necessity... :D

I'm thinking about buying one too. I started to research and I know I want a V8. I am hoping to get the 5.9 limited (1998 only). I've heard it FLIES! I'd like to do a 4.5" lift and trim for some 33's, but that's down the road. I am gonna miss my sport compact in the twisties though. But I won't beat up the undercarriage on graded gravel roads anymore. Yeah, I can't stay off the dirt.
