I just had a T18 rebuilt by Mile High Jeep Rebuilders of Denver, Co. My questions are as follows, I have a Chevy 383 small block with a T90 in it right now. The T90 has thrown up some input shaft gears. The adapter for the T90 has now part number on it, but, says "OFFY" it is a about 3 -3.5 inches wide. Knowing that the T90 is about 8 inchs long and the T18 is about 11.5 inchs long will I have any problems with the drive shafts or mounts? Can anybody tell me what to expect? Thank in advance.

Bigugly,
You should have no problem mating the t-18 to your stock t-case as long as the t-18 origionally had a Dana 20 or a Dana 18 t-case behind it. That way the T-18 would have the standard "texas" bolt pattern. The adapter that is being used to mate the T-90 to the chevy motor will almost definetly be the wrong one....From the sounds of your post you probably have an adapter that mates the T-90 to a chevy bell housing. If this is true you can get a bell housing adapter for the T-18 from Advance Adapters. We sell it here at 4wd Hardware but it is a special order.... Your drive shaft will probably be too long in the back and not long enough in the front. So you will probably have to have them modified. As far as mounting the whole mess you should find that the cross member that holds your tranny will be pretty simple to move back since you have straight frame rails. Good luck with the swap...I will check back to see if you have any more questions....
I had a T18 rebuilt by Mile High Jeep of Denver also. I put it behind a buick 225 V6 in a 1968 CJ-5. They are quite knowledgeable and should be able to help you with your swap. They can provide you with the right imput shaft, bell housing and clutch.
There used to be two Jims working there. Talk to the big (ugly) one. Tell him that I said hello and that you need some help.
Bill (used to live in Denver)
