Since I got my Milemarker E12000 three years ago, I haven't been overly impressed with the controller cable connector. The male/female ends are a keyed arrangement and the keying doesn't work as it can be inserted backwards and it's a sloppy fit. Always seems that once the remote wire is stretched into the cab the connector comes loose.
I checked out Warns and Ramseys connectors to see if I could swap in one of theirs, but the pricing was up there with Milemarker, about $40 for male and female ends (includes shipping).
Anyway, cruising Milemarkers web site, I noticed that they now offer a retro-fit wireless module for about $80. That was definitely a better investment of money, so I ordered one.
Upon receipt, I was impressed with the quality of everything but the installation instructions. While they were precise with the printed instructions, the printed page looked like something that was printed with a 1970 copy machine and was a copy of a copy of a copy.
Other than that, the installation was straight forward. One wire to B+, one wire to B- and two additional wires, one each for the in/out solenoids.
The box came with a cab mounted receiver, a key fob remote and a wire harness which measured about 15 ft.
Finding a suitable place to mount the receiver box is probably the hardest thing of the entire installation.
Since I remove my winch after each outing, I made an additional step in installing a water tight connector at the winch.
After installing everything, I slid down the switch protector on the key fob remote, pulled the antenna out and anywhere withing 50 ft I was able to reel the winch cable in and out.
The only thing they didn't provide were some 18ga crimp on ring connectors, but every wheeler probably already has an assortment of those.
For me this was a real value and will be extremely functional on the trail.
