I have one of these, got it from 4wd earlier this year, went on fine, no problems, a little noisy and had some chips in the finish, oh well, it works.
My brother ordered one about 2 weeks ago, the same bumper, from 4wd. When it got here, I noticed the packaging was different, no big deal right? Well, somehow quality control at Smitty has gone down the sh*tter since a few months ago. One bolt on the bumper wouldn't even screw in straight, it sheared off, several large spots of the finish were rubbed off. The latch handle comes unscrewed at the drop of a hat, the latch itself has be soaked in PB blast before it could be closed or opened, the clip ring was to big for the swivel post and the grease fitting snapped off when I took the grease gun off of it. WTF?:rantoff:

This isnt really any help, but I have heard of the 'M' in Smittybilt being replaced with an 'H' if you catch my drift.

If I were you, I'd basically assemble it b4 it went on, make sure all the bolts fit properly and the latch is working as well as the latch handle won't back out using 2 fingers. Mine came with some blemishes, wasn't a big deal but I'd give it a once over before I put it on or I'd send it back if it's messed up.

Sounds like a plan. I do appreciate the heads up on this.

A buddy got one for his TJ which I am putting on for him as he is not mechanically at all. Started the process Friday night and discovered that Smittybilt only sent about half of the hardware needed. I am not pleased. Other than that it looks to be pretty nice.

Seriously, if you have any issues with Smittybilt products call there Customer Service. There are many stories of them being more than helpful with issues and getting you the correct parts and if there is a major issue it will be resolved for you.

I will but just haven't gotten to it. I was just highly irked as the wife wasn't home Friday night, I had a case of beer in the fridge and planned on doing some Jeep work. :lhdevil: Instead I had to work on some chairs that I am refinishing that I am tired of looking at. :x:

Indeed you were right BustaBizz. Two thumbs up to Smittybilt customer service. I called them up, said I was missing stuff, asked no questions but my name and number and said it would be shipped out UPS. :biggthump
