Have a 2005 and the 4wd indicator light on dash is inoperative. Dealer states it is a "short" somewhere in harness, not switch at TC. Does anybody have the diagram to trace out wires?

Hi Beastierad. I'm sorry, what was your question?
Your part-time light is on when it shouldn't be?
What year/model you in?

2005 Liberty Sport

"part time" indicator light is on in 2wd but goes off when in 4wd. the 4-lo light works properly.

used 4wd one morning to drop dogs at the kennel for the weekend, drove to airport, parked for about 4 days. came back started jeep and light stayed on in 2wd, off in 4wd, on in 2wd. thought it was odd. drove home anyway.

my wife has been driving all week with the light on. obviously i know it is not in 4wd, nice thing about having a manual t-case, but the light bothers me. so what can it be? switch? wires? evil spirits?

thanks!

Defintely evil spirits!

Ghost of Daimler past!

I can suggest doing what the dealership would do... which is to look it up in the Service Manual to see what the possible fixes are and things to check. You could download one of those appropriate for your year (2005 was a bit of redesign, so 2005+ manual covers you pretty well) from jeepslimited.com but other than that, I'd be at a loss.
That's pretty unsettling though... not because of the one light, but because I would be concerned the whole instrument panel (iirc, it's a whole package, like a taillight lens, gotta replace the whole thing) might be developing a short. That would suck.

Have you posted this question on lost kj's?

Have you posted this question on lost kj's?
Are they back up and running?
I haven't been able to pull them up for a while.
I'd agree it would be the place to look for KK/KJ info.

i have searched different forums but have not found anything. i have not posted anywhere else. i figured that i would start with the transfer case position sensor and see where that gets me...

LOSTKJs is a great forum for Liberty information... they've just had some technical difficulties from time to time. And it includes some seriously built rigs from around the world. The guys from Oz with built-up rigs especially.
If they're up and you can join in, I'd recommend them.
And if they're down, I don't have a recommendation for an alternate... I can't think of anyplace that has as much tech info on Libbys as they do.
