I remember reading somewhere that liberty's have chrysler 8.25 rear axles. I also noticed some have disc brakes. can anyone tell me what kind of axle was the disc brake version? I ask because I have an 8.25 i got for free to put into the comanche (ill truss it and it should be more than adiquate) and a friend has a 8.25 in his cherokee. was it a C clip axle or not? anyone have the measurements on the axle? like the wheel face to wheel face and distance from axle shaft to the backing plate? bolt curcle for the backing plate? (I know this one will be hard to find) was there an option on these axles for a LSD?

8.25 Corporate... it's not much to sing about.
Most Libby owners I've heard from that wheel do so carefully... to avoid blowing that thing up.
I'm not sure it's worth (okay, it's free, so maybe it's worth it) putting into your application.

The 8.25 at least is stronger than the D35.
The Euro version all have discs in the rear when automatic, with stick you can have both and nobody knows how they decided who got discs and how not...

The 8.25 (at least the 29-spline XJ version, not sure what the KJ version is), is fractionally weaker than the XJ D44.

D35 > 8.25 27-spl. > 8.25 29-spl. > D44

if you truss a 8.25 it becomes a much stronger axle. the d44 is 8.5" with the same size bearings. the bonus of the d44 is non c-clip. its not a bad axle if you know how to set it up. ive seen 8.25's blow up, but its usually because someone did a poor job of instilation or it could have been saved by a truss.
