question,

I have heard of people removing the rear track bar and not had any problems. Is this a good idea or bad? Just looking for some feed back on getting some more flex.

I would say bad. It helps keep the axle centered.
Maybe just while offroading at low speeds? Not positive, not real familiar with YJ's.

RE and a few other co do make a quick disconnect for your rear sway bar so that you can take it off when 4wheel'n just like you can disconnect the frount. I'm looking into it my my rig. only know or have read about one guy that had them on another forum. said there kinda a pain to get back on but he wouldn't trust driving on the open road with out one.

sorry need to add that the re one is for the xj not sure if they make them for wranglers.

I have removed the rear TRACKBAR on my old 94 YJ without any ill effects, but I would not remove the rear SWAYBAR if you are running stock springs. ( P.S. do not remove the rear trackbar on a coil spring TJ,
because it is the 5th link)

yea what he said

my track bar has been removed for a long time now with no problems, did not notice any difference with it on or off on the road.

but that is on a YJ with leaf springs

dont think it is a good idea with coils :D

I have completly removed my front sway bar and my rear track bar on my 93 yj and had no effects that I have noticed. I also have a 350 engine and drive like a mad man  . I have read that if you have arched springs that they are not stock. I bought the jeep with the 3 inch body lift and the aftermarket shackles, so I do not know if the springs are stock. I do know the diff's are stock and i've had no problems, yet.

No track bar front or rear here. No difference after 5 years. Removing them also helps articulation.

if you take the front trackbar off doesn't that create more bump steer? or will a good steering stabalizer or maybee a dual stabalizer fix that change

Forgot to mention I have no front swaybar either.
All I have is the skyjacker replacement steering stabilizer and I experience hardly any bumpsteer.

I am running a pretty good steering stabilizer and didn't have any problems with handling, but finally shelled the 35, oops!!

Do you have some kind of coil conversion..pro comp, warn xcl, custom. let me know. As for a rear set up, TJ 44 is all I know of right now. Anything else your going to have to get some spring pads and weld them on yourself. A scout 44 rear is a good candidate thats what I run in mine. It's only 1 inch narrower on each side.

Plan on buying a wrecked coil sping vehicle and using all the pads and equipment i need and the fabing the rest myself. My outside of tire width is 6' and I really do not want to go any wider if avoidable. Anyway I just wanted any info to help with the foot work. I just want go with coils to keep from jarring the teeth out of my daughters mouth. She gets tossed around alot on a trail ride when she falls asleep..

I set up a suspension for a friend of mine.... Skyjacker 4" Softride, both track bars removed, front swaybar quick disconnects. (there's no rear swaybar on a YJ, guys) It's her DD, and also her hard core 'wheeler. (Dakota Challenge, Moab, ect) She never trailers it, drives to and from every event, and down to Florida to visit her Mom for good measure. I would say the track bars aren't needed!

Here's a link to some of her pix...

I wasn't refering to you, just a couple other posts that made it look like the YJ had a rear swaybar. Just wanted to clarify for any new YJ owners, not trying to bust any stones. :)
