tried looking for tires for the Libby online. no one even shows 17" tires for it, even at the tire dealer, when they punch in "Liberty" it only shows 16" tires. if all the computers won't show a "factory installed" part as even being available, what else will i encounter in the future? i almost wish this POS was eligible for the cash for clunkers, hopefully it's worth more than that. having grown up working on my own cars, this one has given me more grief than any other vehicle i have ever owned. other than working on it i have no major complaints, it does what it was designed to do reasonably well. but when it needs worked on, i get tempted to go find some high explosives.

You got the fancy model with the fancy big wheels (big wheel, now that was a vehicle!). If the tire shop is not showing those they're either doing it wrong (wrong model) or else they ain't too smart. Don't worry too much about what the website shows, look for your size... I always have to do that for both my Jeeps (really would you expect to look at stock tires for a CJ or TJ?).
Suggest you cruise over to LOST Jeeps (http://www.lostkjs.com) and immerse yourself in the tech talk over there... you're getting over my head quickly. There are some oft-discussed tricks, tech fixes, and work-arounds there... and the occasional 'this is the worst Jeep ever' thread... but all in all, it's not such a bad Jeep, especially if it's primarily a road vehicle with only once in a while out in the mud wallow.
There is a tires section in LOST (stands for Liberty Owners Special Team) with a whole host of suggestions, options, etc.

Did some snooping around on the internetz, looks like your stock tires are 235/65/17. Why not just ask for that size? I typed it into TireRack.com and came back with 84 results.

i was on a couple different sites and when i typed in the vehicle they were for it showed no 17'' tires available for that vehicle. finally just went to a local tire dealer and got what i needed. i'd rather go look in person and be able to see and touch what i'm looking for. i don't buy anything online. i know, i really am a grumpy old fart!

I would too. Just saying to ask for the size tire you need. I've never bought stock size tires for any of my vehicles (aside from the Camry), but even then I just told them the size and the speed/load ratings. Much easier that way IMHO.

Yeah, but sometimes even in person the tire dealers (read high-school kids with don't care jobs) are no better help. A major tire dealership refused to consider quote me anything but the 'official' stock tire size. I went to a different company, showed the guy what I was interested in, he and I worked on fitting the 'max size' tire on it, and we all came away happy.
You're not the only grumpy old fart out there, believe me.
