Hi everybody.
I'm new to this whole online thing, but here it goes.
I have a 93 YJ and I was thinking about adding a 3 in body lift, Does anybody know how hard it is to do? How long do you think it would take to complete?

Thanks.

takes two hours, but you will have issues with the fuel line goin from your filller cap to your tank... not to mention the trimmin to get the 4wd in gear....3 in is toooo much... go for 2 in and some shackles and wait for the suspension lift......basic job, just time consuming jackin with those pucks.... :x

I strongly agree 3" is to much go with 2". the shifter gets too short and hits floor. t case shifter is a real problem. my wife has a 93 YJ we bought it with 3" body and we removed it .

I have the Full Traction 2" reveres shackle lift. I am running 32" BFG's right now on my 93YJ. It works great and was easy to install. Took me 2 Days only because I had to wait for the right shocks. I also had to extend my Brake lines they are a little short. I like the reveres shackle lift because it moves the solid mounts to under the front fender and moves the shackle to the back of the fount springs. I have found by doing that I added protection to my Steering box with eth new front mount and when you hit things with your tires like Toyota Avalon's and rocks, It allows the spring to push back on the movable shackle rather than the hard frame mount. It makes it a easier bump. If you really want 3" you can always add a 1" body lift. It can also be easily converted to a 5" lift with changing the shackles. If that is some thing you want in the future.

Personally I think Body lifts are cheep and looks cheep. If you want to do a lift should do a Suspension. By doing a suspension lift you will gain more ground clearance. Hope that helps! ;)

I agree with Mud Girl here, a suspension lift is the best way to gain clearance. You CAN get clearance from a body lift, but it's marginal... You see, the only way you can get clearance from a body lift is from running bigger tires. The lifted body will allow for a slightly larger tire size, but even that will depend on how much your tires rub on components while flexing and turning.

There's no way that you can seriously use anything over 32's with just a 2" body lift (and that's being optimistic).

Besides, one of the best things about suspension lifts is that you get increased articulation. That is, the ability to have your wheels reach out and touch the ground when in awkward offroad driving positions. You won't get this increase in suspension movement from just body kits.

Body kits are useful when combined with suspension lifts though. The added articulation of a suspension lift will still let larger tires rub on components. That's usually because people that lift their vehicles this high are usually getting them in pretty hairy positions. A body lift can help move these [usually body] components up and out of the tires' way.
A lot less self-inflicted body damage.

Like stated, 3" is too high. Stay with a 2" or 1". BLs also go good with motor mount lifts, as you can get 1" of extra oil pan clearance.
