Hello everyone,
Im new to this board, but been wheeling for a few years. I have a question about my 4 inch suspension lift. Can I add a 1 or 2 inch body lift without major work to the existing suspension lift to my 91 YJ!?

I think 1 or 2 inches won't hurt the steering or any other major component.

Thanks for your help.
Bill

A body lift will not affect the suspension system at all. They are totaly seperate. The Jeep may ride a bit rougher (shock of bump transfered to body) depending on the material the spacers are made from and the current shape of the spacers on there now. If you go higher than 1.5 inches, you may also notice the Jeep handling a little differently due to a slightly higher center of gravity.

With a 1 or 2" BL, you are going to have to mofidy the fan shroud. Some BL kits come with a radiator relocator bracket, some dont. They also make a BL that has thicker polyurthane(sp?) and no spacer between the body and frame, although its about $40 more.

you could look into coil spring spacers. They make them all the way up to 2". Might be cheaper too.

You have a YJ, coil spring spacers won't work. A body lift will get you the extra 1 or so inches you need. Here are different ones:

But remember, the ones over 1" may cause problems with linkages and shifters and A/C lines. You could buy a 2" and cut it to 1.5" also.

A body lift is a good way to get that extra clearance that you need for tires/articulation. No major changes need to be made besides the fan shroud(which isnt hard at all)Whole thing should take 2hrs at the most. If your current body mount bolts are rusty i would spray them with pb blaster for like two days before you plan on installing the BL. That is what i had the most trouble with.
