Hellow from the the deep south! First time forum user and just recently bought my first cj5 that I rescued from a south louisiana duck camp. My problem is I do not have a model year for her. I do have the serial #, engine serial#,and axle id's and ratio's.I had someone tell me that the first 4 numbers in the serial # can be dated. Is this true and if not how can I or can I date her. Positive Id on the cj5 part. Any help will be app.

Thanks I'll try that out. I did leave out some important info she is CJ 5 and built by Kaiser Jeep. I have the year narrowed down to between a 61 through 69. Her axles I believe are newer the front is a dana 27 the rear is a flanged dana 44. She also has an instrument cluster with the word NAVY written in the middle and the navy insig. across the bottom and nothing else military.
Go to the website and forums dedicated to the Kaiser-era Jeeps

click on forums, then register. You'll learn all you need to know by posting a few questions...
Good Luck!!
