Anyone going out this weekend? 5/26-29/06
Old post starts here
I was wondering if anyone here was at the mudfest at powerline park this weekend?
We went out on our ATV's Saturday, I thought it was just a quad ride but there were just as many jeeps, trucks, and buggies as atv's. I counted at least 2 dozen jeeps, mostly CJ's from the guy with the wooden bed cj that was nailing it back together on the trail to a very new TJ to several CJ's with 38's and larger. Although my favorite rides were the several chevy trucks with military axels and 48+" tires and feet of lift.
I was told that Powerline Park in St. Clairesville OH, bout 5 miles off of I70 is ownd by a 4WD club. The only thing I knew about them is that they had several GNCC races each year.
Does anybody know about this place?

I just remember hearing that Natl' tire & wheel was involved with them when they opened a few years back... I was unaware that they allowed Jeeps there now.. it (at least at first) was just for quads.

when I went to NTW on May 23rd to pick up my Irok's, they had brochures there for it. Then, I met a guy who said that he had a Ranger on 38's that he takes there. He said that they charge like $15 to ride...and you can take whatever you want there....Jeeps, full size rigs....etc.

did it seem like very challenging terrain? or just mud? I know that area (in general) has some hills...

Mostly mud runs, the atv trails were tight and technical through the woods with lots of ruts. We only got to see maby half of the trails due to thunderstorms and my friends wheel falling off. There arn't many rocky areas but there is some old strip mines and I'm sure you could find enough difficult terrain to keep you busy for several days. Or if you like you could ride for miles in and out of mud puddles.

We used to go to st. clairsville a couple of times a year. The place we went was called bendfork park. I wonder if that is the some place. It was a good place to camp and go jeepin.
Try calling Doug @ Wheeling Tire, he should be able to answer your questions.

We would go down there but the trails were called Seven creeks, Anderson run, Millers run and Peavons run. The power lines from Peavons run were a blast. I think it's all closed up now. I heard of power line park but I thought it was all dirt bikes and ATV's

ok, now i know where i've seen it before. i hunt down there a lot. particularly at egypt valley. there's lots of strip mines around there and it's just very hilly anyways.
I used to ride MTB's in Egypt Valley, it was a great place to ride with tons of trails. I was told it was nearly 100,000 acres. There was a muddin spot there called the "super bowl", it was a 4' deep lake with a mud bottom and a 30 ft dirt wall surrounding 3 sides. It was only for the really big boys. In the mid 90's they banned all wheel'd vehicles from entering the area and I havn't been there since. That land was completely ravaged by strip mining, water just bubbled from the ground everywhere b/c they filled in all the natural dendritic drainage patterns.

i'm pretty sure it's 14,000 acres. at least that's the public hunting land portion and i'm very familiar with it. i know all too well of the no vehicle laws there now. when you have to drag a deer an hours walk though that terrain, it's a trophy or you let it grow some more. there's still lots of trails though there, but they're only for ranger trucks now, however, you can tell ATVs are running around. if they're willing to run from the ranger, no way they'll get caught either.

POWERLINE PARK LOCATION
Conveniently located at Exit 213 on I-70
in St. Clairsville, Ohio
(4 miles West of Ohio Valley Mall)
Take State Rt #331 to Belmont County Technical College.
Turn right on Hammond Road & follow the signs to Powerline Park.
The place known as Bennock's Park is closed down, if its hte palce i'm thinking that land was leased by Bennock ( or what ever) and due to the no rule factor, the lease was pulled. Anderson Run, etc are still there IF you know whats legal and what isnt.

There used to be an exit at Andersons via a gas line right of way. The property changed hands and the new owner took it to court and had the right to block it. When we were there last October, we had to back track due to cut trees blocking the exit.
Seven rivers is fun in the spring but basically a trail run in the fall. We were cautioned by a few of the locals to expressly stay on the trail as land owners have been getting upset by vehicles going off the trails.
Two years ago it was really a blast as the trails were really difficult. Last fall they were just mud runs because of too many inconsiderate vehicle operaters making their own trails and generally tearing things up.
Millers is supposed to still be good, but last fall the county was doing some work (or so we were told) and we didn't go there.

:newbie: Hey Guys, I am a local here in St.Clairsville. We have been running at Pogues Run (Powerline Park), for years. It gets nothing but better every run, Greg and his crew are really making it a great place. I dont know if you guys knew about the Mudbog on saturday? Anyway the winner got 4 new tires from National Tire and Wheel, pretty cool. You Really cant beat it $20 for the weekend includes camping. Theres alot of decent holes and a few steep climbs, not a whole lot of rock type stuff. Anyway Youall come on down for July 4th weekend (July 1-2) Gates open Early Saturday morning. Gimme a holler if you see me, Camo 68 CJ-5 Stacks and a Keg in back, cant miss it!

Well its all pretty much all posted now but you can still ride Anderson Run and I heard you can still wheel 7 Creeks, but its not near as big as it used to be, Powerlines the big place now. Egypt Valley pretty much sucks any more, Im not sure if you can still ride Jockey Hollow out toward Flushing or not. 5 years ago you could ride Coalmine property all year long, now most of that has all been sold.Belmont County sucks anymore!
