i am putting my 3.5 inch lift on this weekend and once i am done paying this thing off i am thinking about putting new tires on...
i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on good tires...
i am looking for off-road performance(mudding, no rockcrawling), but also an agressive tread pattern so i can scare people when i am pulling up to them(if my headlights being up in their face isn't enough)

BFG MT KM, Goodyear MTR's, Super Swamper TSL's (I think those are the mud tread). Or just go to several tire shops and see what they have.

i would goto the tire stores around here but the most aggressive tread i've been able to find is the BFG MT....and the thornbirds...theres one problem with them...i think the tread would even scare me

The thornbirds only look scary. But don't go near them if you do mud. This is almost another "my friend had a set" stories. My friend did have a set, but I did not just hear about, I was there. He put a set on his XJ and off to attica we went. Needless to say he used them once and then sold them to some guy who wanted a mean looking tire for his street queen. We went back the next weekend with him having a good set of MT's. The tires are worlds apart. The conditions both weekends were pretty much the same, mud. The Thornbirds are also very noisy. If the MT's are not aggressive enough for you, check out the SSR's, or another swamper, but not the thornbirds. Take it for what it is worth, but I have known too many people who could not get rid of their thornbirds unless it was someone new to off-roading, or a street queen. (nothing against street queens)

the only way to go is boggers. i am running 35x16s on my yj. they are sweet. they are probably the meanest looking tire on the market but probably the loudest also. if you do mud, you need boggers. :USA:
OK!! This looks like a job for LWB's gratuitous BOGGER SHOT!!!!
Now let that be a lesson to you: "When Boggers are mentioned, I am not slow. It's cut 'n paste, and away I go!!!!" Seriously though, Boggers aren't for all mud, they sideslip real easily on greasy, off-camber mud. If you really want to run them, keep in mind that anything over 15Kmi from any Super Swamper is a bonus for tread life. I would recommend the new 33x12.50. The regular TSLs are my all around favorite wheelin tire, but I'm not worried about noise, tread life, ect.

i have been real happy with my pro comp xterain tires, i have been running a set of 33 12.50's for a while now and they are great on and off road. they are not as loud as swampers either.
but the swampers are a kick butt tire and they look cool to but if you are doing a lot of on road driving they are loud.
here is a pic of mine in action

dave95jy -- that's a cool pic. Aren't you worried your shocks will be toast with no boots?

no not at all, boots are ok but think about it, the boots have hole in them so water and dirt and stuff get in there then the holes get cloged up and you have traped water and dirt in there that will do more damage than not having boots, alot easy to keep them clean with no boots, but it is a personal choice
