I have two questions: Does anyone have problems with parts being stole off their jeep? Just wondering because about a month ago my doors got stole off my jeep now I'm really worried about driving it anywhere. I got new doors on but there is still that chance that it could be worse next time. Plus who ever got the doors can get a key made to fit anything in my jeep. What should I do?

Also when shifting into 2nd gear it really doesnt want to go to easily, what could be wrong? :hi:

Jeeps in general are easy targets of theft. I am sorry about your loss. I have lost a sweet stereo system out of my jeep and have since installed a new alarm system and haven't had a problem since, if you had an alarm it would have picked up on someone trying to take a body part or in my case a stereo out of our jeeps. I highly recommend an alarm.

I hear ya Rock Hopper, an alarm system was some of the best money I ever spent on my YJ. You can pick one up for less than $100 and install it yourself.

Jeepbaby, do you have to pull hard to get it into 2nd or is there a little grinding going on. If your pulling hard, something's out of adjustment or bent. If it's grinding, it's probably the syncro going bad.

join the crowd.. mine are attached with light chain straps that are screwed in with the anti theft bathrooom stall screws....i keep as little as possible in the jeep and i try to always leave a window unzipped, otherwise you willl find a cut top, door or tonnue cover....i like for people to be able to get in and look around without tearin up my stuff...the game is conceallment, if someone sees a tuffy lock box, loook out, they will tear the jeep off the frame trying to get it out....cheap alarm at least scares em off if they dont see any high dollar stuff worth spending time on..my next purchase is the detachable steering wheel...thats a deterant

Just to try to chear you up baby, a friend of mine has a new Rubicon. He went on a tirp to west Texas and while he was out with friends in another vehicle his rubicon got damn near stripped.

 Thanks Rockhopper, I'm getting an alarm installed this weekend as a matter of fact. A friend had one off of his old truck and gave it to me a couple of days ago. I had thought about putting one on there but sometimes they are such a hassel. I had one that every time it would thunder or someone drove by it would go off.
Joker, there is some grinding noise sometimes but not all the time. Most of the time you just got to force that shifter into 2nd and go. Needless to say, its not as easy as the other gears. At first I thought it had something to do with the clutch not being all the way in because it is hard for me to push it to the floor sometimes without sliding the seat all the way up because I am not the tallest person. But I did try sliding the seat up a little and it would still grind sometimes. Also somedays it does just fine and one day it will want to act up all day.

I must be lucky, I have a Bestop soft top with full soft doors, Never had a problem. I have driven it across PA and left it with the soft doors and all with a CD changer in the hide-away trunk. Still haven't had a problem. I drove it up to Cedar Point a few years ago with the soft door bottoms and only the top on it. No windows, back windows, and rear side curtains on it and nothing missing after leaving it unattended for 9 hours.

Try a set of door-locks for your hard doors, if that's what yer wearing on your rig. They're basically a pair of locks that (when locked) swing a steel swing-bolt over the top of your hinges so they can't be lifteed off without unlocking them first. I think that Tuffy makes them, if you need to find them online somewhere I would try at Quadratec or a similar outfitter. Hard doors are generally bigger targets for thieves, because they cost more and are harder to find. I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

check your transmission fluid could be a little sludgy or something, is it on cold days, hot days, in the morning when its humid? a dry afternoon?..........i guess im lucky too, but i think it is the fact that when you see how ugly my jeep is, no one thinks i would be stupid enough to leave something of value in it.

One suggestion if you have a winch they are very hot items to steal. I welded two bolts one on each side with a real good spot weld so you cant just put a wrench on them, but if you need to remove it you just grind off your spot weld. this may help you keep your winch on YOUR bumper!!!!

I feel for you man, my $1600 stereo system got jacked out of my XJ it sux, Jeeps are damn prone to this kind of stuff. Get this about five of my friends have XJs and our ignition keys all work on eachothers doors, it is ridiculous, shows you how much Jeep cared about their security! An alarm is a damn good idea, I am going to get one soon, I guess that is the only way to go. Good luck man!

Yeah, I guess that's just because they have a hard top.

I haven't had a problem with my XJ.
