hey all,

I stayed up the other night reading the forum, and had no idea there were so many Jeep Lover's. I just bought one. It's a 97, little over 80,000 miles, 4.0 liter, Hunter Green. It's nice, I have fallen in love with it. The only drawback is it isn't 4wd. Which I am starting to regret not getting one. I was wondering how far can you push the 2wd. I have looked at all these photo's with the guys on the Trails, and I am like jonesing to get out there. If anybody can give me some feedback i would greatly appreciate it.

A 2wd with a Limited slip or locker in the rear can go a long way, but it definatly has its limits. for driving trails and such, not a problem, but getting into mud, lots of rocks and such, you will be limited. Have fun though, and i wouldn't go alone.

yep Blupuphers right. I have seen some guys do some cool stuff with 2wd's but nothing that technical or hard. Rock crawling is limited to low incline angles. Your going to have to pick routs that will let you around them apposed to over them like how some jeeprs like to go. Thats all the pics that are catching your eyes were there flexing and crawling over stuff. If you don't mind how much did you payfor it. You might try and find a dealer that would trade it in. That is if it's in your budget or not. You might find one that is but it might have a few more miles on it. It's a give and take kinda thing.

They were definitely flexing in some of those pics. So you are saying I kind still have some fun with my ride. I picked her up for 7 grand. She is really clean, I have all these ideas in my head on what I want to do with her. I was wondering, if you were me, were would you start with any modifications. I would like to get a bigger tire. I already have new rims for it. 15x8 eagle alloys, I haven't mounted them yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I need to find some trails here in Florida.

you only paid 7 grand for a 97 with 80,000 get outta here. Thats a dealman. So lets say this are you really looking to do some 4wheelen or just run around on dirt roads. Now if you have the money I would look around I know you can find a 97 4x4 for under 11,000 I've seen a few on auto trader 97 under 90k for 10,500

Hey jdogg. My wife just picked up a 98 XJ with around 50k on it for 9500. The thing is really clean, runs awesome and is 4x4. Then again I know how to bargain with dealers. :g You gotta know more than they do. I knew more about the new KJ before these jokers did. And it is a 5 star dealership. I went down about 6 to 8 months before the release asking about them. All of the dealers looked at me like I was on crack.

Thats a heck of a find man. My womans XJ was a 98 and had 27k on it. she paid 12,800 for it. It was her dad that bought it and then they just put it into her name. Her dad is funny sometimes. they drove by it one day and she siad look a red XJ so they pull over look at it and she said it looks nice but she really wanted a grand. so then a week later her dad calls saying were driving your new car????????????????? ok so she sold her talon and got 5000 for it. so the XJ she only owes 7,800 SO ya thats a good deal. It was a leased xj so thats why it had low miles on it.
